About this listen

With her new product line launched and an updated version of her suit to test, Tori Rivas is ready to focus on her work for a while. But when an eruption of power elsewhere in the multiverse sends monsters bursting into her world, the young villain will find herself in the crosshairs of an unexpected invader.

As if being pursued by an unknown entity from outside her own reality wasn't enough to handle, there's also developing her product line, exploring her suit's new capabilities, and maybe even making some extra money on the side. Add in extradimensional monsters popping in without warning, and Ridge City is even more chaotic than usual.

Yet more danger lurks unseen, as the Rookstone escapees have begun to hatch their own schemes. One of which is a primal force whose goal cannot be denied. No matter what, or who, stands in his way.

Warning to anyone buying, this volume seems to have done callbacks to the side story novel in the sand series, the volume 2.5 book. Not minor ones either mind you, seemingly pretty big and consequential plot points. I didn't read that one so I found myself confused at times with these call backs. Multiple times I found myself scouring my memory for any mention of an event it was calling back to which I'd have remembered as I've read volumes 1 & 2 multiple times, only to remember there was a side story volume and it most likely came from that. Not a fan of putting references to a side story in the book. I'm personally not a fan of side stories and just about never read them and to put a reference to it that seems like an actual REALLY big plot point rubs me the wrong way. Not enough to not read it or take away points, but I just hope the author at the very least minimizes it in the future. Like make the callbacks small little Easter eggs for those that read and remember the side stories.

As good as the previous books.

This was the perfect follow up in the Villians Code book series. Narration was masterful. Amy Landon delivers.

My only gripe was the wait for the audiobook. The print became available late last year and some of us who listen to Drew’s novels had to wait 6-8months.

Totally worth the wait

No spoilers. While the story is a bit more drama based, it is still fantastic and a listen well worth your time. There are many, MANY dangling threads at the end of this tome.

The first two books and the Vignettes are required listening. It’s interesting to see how the pins are being set up for the next installment, knowing it will be a couple of years before we see it is depressing.

Amy Landon does an amazing job in her narration as usual. For whatever reason, I am not a big fan of female narrators, but she is truly a notable exception.

It’s well worth your time and money. I promise.

A great entry into the Villians’ Code

All Drew Hayes' books have great pacing. The actors who read the books are great.

First: Damn you cliffhangers and hooks!
Second: Another banger of a book that sheds some light while leaving us in even more darkness with different questions. Can’t wait till the next!

Knockout

Cliché must have said Drew Hayes and Amy Landon are a match made in heaven. If you liked the first 2, this one doesn't disappoint!
