About this listen

What doesn’t kill Amber only makes her stronger.

Without any warning, Amber is transported from her dingy student apartment to a fantastical realm with magic, monsters, and a universal System. However, even though she is forcibly ripped from her home and thrust into a dangerous new life, for the first time ever, she finally feels free.

There are no cheats for her. There are no gods to guide her, and some would even laugh in her face. But the pain, the hardships, and the challenges only give her strength. As the first Cursed Berserker seen in over a hundred years, Amber welcomes the world of Vir with a smile on her face.

And she will not be satisfied until she is the strongest.

Honest Review

Story? Pretty good. Writing? Pretty rough at times. Narrator? Great!

I think the amount of times the authors said the phrase "Amber smiled" is well over 100 in just the first few chapters. Additionally the usual "she swung a swing/she hit the monster by hitting it-" etc is pretty common.

That being said, I actually really enjoy the story! I had my reservations at first, but it's a lot like a manga/anime in an audio format. Fast leveling, wish there was a bit more character devopment/more opposition with the main character.

The voice actor/narrator is also really good, she puts a lot of emotion behind the lines and characters.

Conclusion: While the writing could be polished a bit more, I'll admit it's been a bit of a guilty pleasure- I typically only read history/science/and popular fantasy/fiction. It's a nice change of pace (at least for me).

The storyline

The story is great but the listing of stats and skill is a little much with the robot like voice.

Expand your vocabulary (minor spoiler)

Overall the book well done with only a couple minor inconsistencies and personal dislike. However my main gripe is how well the story is written at the start, but by the time our main character leaves the starting area much of her dialogue consists of f-bombs. I enjoy some cursing, but when its used suddenly every few paragraphs (especially during battle) it really just feels lazy or as if a teen wrote this. Equally the villain's have a bad "Let me tell you all our secrets while we fight" like a bad anime. Otherwise the narrator was good and the story alright.

Good story, poor writing

Grammar and syntax were lacking. The story was good, if you enjoy Azarinth Healer the skills system is similar.

amber is just bad a

this was a great book. has a very fast progression to it. it hints at later how the main character can get really insane compared to what she is at at the end of the first book. can't wait for book 2 and 3 to hit audible!

Fun and humorous adventure that never quits

The beginning of the book is a little rough and the characters seem a little stilted. however, it seems like the writing and reader really hit their stride, and it flowed really well. I listened to it straight through and am looking forward to the next book coming out!

Video game aspect

Lovely book - though the repetitiveness of the leveling got a bit annoying. Overall a good book! 5 out of 5
