South Korea, 1970. San is a lonely child, ostracised from her community. She soon finds a friend in a girl called Namae, until one afternoon changes everything. Following a moment of intimacy in a minari field, Namae violently rejects San, setting her on a troubling path. We next meet San, aged twenty-two, when she happens upon a job at a flower shop in Seoul's bustling city centre. Over the course of one hazy, volatile summer, San is introduced to a curious cast of characters.

The piano composition includes Nocturne in F-sharp Minor, Op. 48 No. 2 - Andantino. This is one of Chopin's longer nocturnes, containing soothing, simple chord progressions. A seemingly endless melody is played with restless triplets on the left hand.

On an early October morning, Psyekoff, the right hand-man to Lieutenant Marcus Ivanovitch Klausoff, informs the inspector of police that he suspects Klausoff has been murdered. Immediately, the inspector and his team head to Klausoff’s home to investigate the matter. After examining the outside of the house, the inspector sends word to the magistrate, asking him to come investigate the case. When the magistrate and his assistant arrive, they check Klausoff’s room, only to find that he is not in there.

The short story "Vanka", originally published in 1887 as a Christmas tale in the Peterburgskaya Gazeta, is quintessential Chekhov. Anton Chekhov, Russian short story writer and playwright, was a master of humorous but almost dark tales of mundane and often anti-climactic Russian life in the 19th century. "Vanka" is the story of a young shoemaker’s apprentice, who writes a letter in secret to his only living relative, his grandfather with a desperate plea to save him from the miserable life he lives with the shoemaker.

The only full-length novel which Chekhov authored, The Shooting Party revolves around Olga, the pretty young daughter of a drunken worker on a country estate, and her relationships with the men in her life. When we read or listen, words can have a transforming effect. Our mood can alter in the space of a few sentences from joy to sadness. And not just our mood.
