About this listen

A MOST ANTICIPATED SUMMER READ from People, USA Today, The Skimm, E! News, Forbes, New York Post, Crimereads, and many more!

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jewell, three women are connected by one man in this kaleidoscopic thriller.

He's the perfect man. It's a perfect lie.

Nina Swann is intrigued when she received a condolence card from Nick Radcliffe, an old friend of her late husband, who is looking to connect after her husband's unexpected death. Nick is a man of substance and good taste. He has a smile that could melt the coldest heart and a knack for putting others at ease. But to Nina’s adult daughter, Ash, Nick seems too slick, too polished, too good to be true. Without telling her mother, Ash begins digging into Nick’s past. What she finds is more than unsettling…

Martha is a florist living in a neighboring town with her infant daughter and her devoted husband Alistair. But lately, Alistair has been traveling more and more frequently for work, disappearing for days at a time. When Martha questions him about his frequent absences, he always has a legitimate explanation, but Martha can’t share the feeling that something isn't right.

Nina, Martha, and Ash are on a collision course with a shocking truth that is far darker than anyone could have imagined. And all three are about to wish they had heeded the same warning: Don’t let him in. But the past won’t stay buried forever.

Editorial Review

A puzzle worth solving...
Lisa Jewell’s Don’t Let Him In ensnared me from the beginning. From the character interactions that made me want to pull out my hair in frustration to the genuine a-ha moments when things began to click, I was hooked. Following recent widow Nina, mourning daughter Ash, and neglected wife and mom Martha, Don’t Let Him In explores the complexities of these women's relationship with a man that turns out very wrong. Not only do they learn they shouldn't have let him in, it might be too late to avoid what may come crashing down on them. I had almost visceral reactions to the lies told, stories believed, actions ignored. And to put a cherry on top of these well-developed characters, Don't Let Him In is a multi-cast listen performed by top-notch talents like Richard Armitage, Joanne Froggatt, Tamaryn Payne, Gemma Whelan, Louise Brealey, and Patience Tomlinson. —Nicole R., Audible Editor

The story is very predictable. The only highlight is the brilliant performance of Richard Armitage as the antagonist of the story.

Predictable story

I love Lisa Jewell but this was by far my least favorite of all her books. It’s still well written of course, because she is an excellent author, but I found it lacking in suspense. The ending was just as expected. A long story about an awful sociopathic narcissist.

Least fav

If you compare this to some of her other books this might not be the most suspenseful . But this is an excellent portrayal of a narcissist and how his mind work. If you’ve been lucky enough to not experience a narcissist in your life it could feel far fetched and the women dumb for falling for lies and deception but when you are involved with one it’s like you are caught in a spiral you can’t get out of. I appreciated this book for showcasing this to a certain extent.

It’s a good book

First, the good. I love Lisa Jewell. She is one of my favorite writers in this genre. This book was well written and the audio was fabulous. The bad: this story fell very flat for me. The first one third of the book is extremely confusing, not so much because of the different voices or the shifting time frames, but because the voice in some chapters is not identified; it was unnecessary. I’m only giving it three stars (and not fewer) because I liked the ending. I finished this book because I love Lisa Jewell. I would have stopped reading had it been written by anyone else.

My least favorite Lisa Jewell book

She met the man of her dreams. Handsome, charming, smart, and a wealthy businessman. He was all those things to several other women too, but by a different name.

Juggling different wives and girlfriends while swindling them out of all they own and then some is a tricky business. Until you get greedy, start to slip up and the women close to them can see a red flag from a mile away and start to dig around.

I love Lisa Jewell’s books so I had high hopes for this one. I was not disappointed.

Tom, Dick or Harry?

the inability to identify Tara's body was a major mistake. with a body, a theory of who's body, and a living daughter to match DNA to, this would have been solved. shame on the author and her editors.

I love Lisa Jewell's prose and her storytelling, am a longtime fan. BUT...

My least favorite of Lisa Jewvels books. Can’t even find fifteen words to describe. I used to like her writing, but this book is somewhat primitive. Sorry

Can’t either listen or return
