Bounty hunter Lou Prophet is escorting a Russian noblewoman through Arizona on the trail of her missing sister - and a buried treasure that is being sought by a gang of desperadoes.

Sheriff Ben Stillman has enough of a hard time keeping the peace in the town of Clantick without having to worry about the likes of Matt Parrish. Since his father died, Matt has been responsible for the Circle P Ranch in the Two-Bear Mountains - and his hotheaded streak has been responsible for a lot of trouble with other ranchers...including his future father-in-law, Tom Suthern.

Legendary Montana lawman Ben Stillman is transporting a prisoner, a former friend of his, back to the town where the man and his gang had robbed a bank to stand trial. Stillman’s also packing the stolen loot. Along the way he picks up a young White woman and her Indian boy who are on the run from a pack of bloodthirsty human wolves led by a prominent area rancher. The rancher wants revenge on the woman because she killed the man’s son in self-defense. Stillman finds himself on the run from not only the woman’s enemies but from his prisoner’s gang, as well.

When Doctor Clyde Evans is kidnapped from his home in the middle of the night to tend to a wounded outlaw, Sheriff Ben Stillman’s problems are only just beginning. Lou Prophet is in mixed company these days. He doesn’t mind being close to his pretty pistol-packing partner, Louisa Bonaventure. Known as the Vengeance Queen, she has his back — and dare he say it, part of his heart. But accompanying the vile outlaw Blanco Metalious back to Nugget Town to see him hang isn’t exactly Lou’s idea of a good time.

Tom Navarro, a hostler at the Bar-V Ranch, has retired his gun-slinging boots to find peace of mind. As much as he enjoys working for Paul Vannorsdell, owner and operator of Bar-V, Navarro has plans of moving up north with the woman he loves to open his own ranch and create a new life for himself. The saloon owner himself, John Stock, rides along with Stillman. Stock isn’t much help. He’s a loudmouthed drunk, and he ends up getting his horse shot out from under him.
