Trials of poetry are lyrical episodes presented as an opening dialogue or correspondence on the subject of love. Conceptual basis of this work is rooted in an assessment of the value of poetry, and its potential accessibility as a literary genre.

From the Hearti is a collection of poems written over the years, with short stories included that inspired the writing of each one. My first poem, written when I was nine years old, was right after the death of my mother. As with all my poetry, when I couldn't get words out of my head, I had to sit down and write about my feelings, my thoughts, my sorrows, and my happiness. Unable to talk to anyone about my feelings, I expressed my dreams, my hopes for a better life in my writing.

Life is frenetic. Everything is running faster which usually means we are running later. Everything should have been done 5 minutes ago or better still yesterday. We are slowly falling behind, overwhelmed by busy lives in an ever-exacting world. In these more modern times, time is everything. There’s never enough of it. Classic poets down the decades and centuries have wisely observed that there are many things, both great and small, that bring a sense of stillness, an aura of calm, a chance to re-engage with our feelings and emotions purely by taking time for moments that matter.

The most enduring and popular theme of poems and poets is that of love. Love changes; its rhythms pause and pulse on the tiniest of things and the biggest of thrills. Manuel Machado, one of the Machado brothers, was a poet of the so called "Generation of 98". He wrote poetry in the "Andalusian style" and dramatic works, some in collaboration with his brother Antonio Machado. Manuel Machado's poetry is different to his more famous brother but it has the same quality and class.
