About this listen
The secret history of David Hasselhoff and the fall of the Berlin Wall - as told by the Hoff himself.
Autumn, 1989. The waning days of the Cold War. A rogue Stasi colonel has acquired a nuclear bomb and threatens to level Berlin if and when the Wall comes down. CIA Agent Nick Harper is called in to foil the plot. Soon after arriving, however, Harper discovers his identity has been compromised. To stay alive, he must go along with a group of passionate young East Berliners who mistake him for their idol, American superstar David Hasselhoff.
Meanwhile, across the Wall, the real David Hasselhoff arrives in West Berlin to play a sold-out show before a hundred thousand adoring German fans, in the name of freedom. But upon crossing into the East as a tourist, Hasselhoff - who bears a striking resemblance to the US operative - unwittingly finds himself caught up in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse.
When the Hoff fails to show up for his concert, Agent Harper is forced to stand in for his famous doppelgänger while the real Hasselhoff must rely on his acting chops and Knight Rider training to save Berlin...and potentially the world.

Story
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Our favorite moments from Up Against the Wall
Don’t hassel me while I listen to this Hoff-the-wall thriller
If John le Carré and Charlie Kaufman got together for a Knight Rider marathon, you might end up with something as delightfully weird as Up Against the Wall, a spy thriller about international heartthrob David Hasselhoff and a secret agent who looks a lot like…David Hasselhoff. You see, the real Hasselhoff is inextricably tied to the fall of the Berlin Wall, thanks to his 1989 single “Looking for Freedom” and a massive concert from atop the wall. But in a case of mistaken identity, the fictional Hasselhoff gets caught up in a covert operation to foil a terrorist attack on Berlin, and the lookalike Hasselhoff has to play the concert instead. Got all that? This is the perfect listen if you like your thrillers fast-paced, addictive, and very Hoff-beat.

About the Creator
David Hasselhoff is a multifaceted performer and artist whose career as an actor and chart-topping singer have made him a household name in the US and overseas. In 1982, David Hasselhoff was cast as Michael Knight on the primetime hit series Knight Rider. After the huge success of Knight Rider, David returned to television in 1989 to produce and star in the lifeguard drama, Baywatch, which became the most watched show in TV history. (David himself remains a fixture in The Guinness Book of World Records as the most watched actor in the history of television.)
On stage, he has starred on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde, played Billy Flynn in the West End production of Chicago, and performed in the Las Vegas stage production of The Producers. For seven holiday seasons, David broke box office records and starred as Captain "Hoff The Hook" in the UK Pantomime production of Peter Pan. He also has been a celebrity judge on the blockbuster series, America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent, and can be seen in two installments of the popular Syfy franchise, Sharknado. His film credits include The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Click, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and Hop.
His 2015 comedy series, Hoff the Record, won the International Emmy Award for Best Comedy and is now streaming on Netflix. In 2017, David appeared as himself in Marvel’s hit feature film, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2. (Director James Gunn personally wrote the film’s end title song, "Guardians Inferno," for David to perform.) Killing Hasselhoff, a feature film David produced and starred in, was released later that year. For Up Against the Wall, an Audible Original Production, David served as both author and narrator. The spy thriller takes place at the Berlin Wall and calls upon David to use his acting skills and Knight Rider training to save the day—and Berlin.

My name is Brett. I'm a college-educated man who was once a husband of 26 years with two children, three businesses, and a large home with an actual white picket fence. I'm also a drug addict. And I have a tale to tell. It's about the despair of addiction and the absolute certainty that it can be overcome. Recovery is not simply abstinence, but a process of growing up. I spent my entire life searching for the key to long-term sobriety. I would like to share with you what I have learned.

Story
In the New Mexico badlands, the skeleton of a woman is found—and the case is assigned to FBI Agent Corrie Swanson. The victim walked into the desert, shedding clothes as she went, and then died in agony of heatstroke and thirst. Two rare artifacts are found clutched in her bony hands—lightning stones used by the ancient Chaco people to summon the gods. Is it suicide or… sacrifice?

Story
Outside the island there is nothing: the world was destroyed by a fog that swept the planet, killing anyone it touched. On the island: it is idyllic. One hundred and twenty-two villagers and three scientists, living in peaceful harmony. The villagers are content to fish, farm and feast, to obey their nightly curfew, to do what they're told by the scientists. Until, to the horror of the islanders, one of their beloved scientists is found brutally stabbed to death.

Story
My name is Brett. I'm a college-educated man who was once a husband of 26 years with two children, three businesses, and a large home with an actual white picket fence. I'm also a drug addict. And I have a tale to tell. It's about the despair of addiction and the absolute certainty that it can be overcome. Recovery is not simply abstinence, but a process of growing up. I spent my entire life searching for the key to long-term sobriety. I would like to share with you what I have learned.

Fun !!!
So much fun. Great story. Cheesy and mocking himself while making himself a hero. We loved it !

Was fun to listen to
David H as the narrator was pretty good. In a way I think he is poking fun at himself and his career which makes it kind of a fun read.

Hofftastic!
David Hasselhoff does it again! Add fiction author to his credits, that already include singer, actor, writer, director, and producer. All around fantastic entertainer! This book will have you painting a picture of the characters and becoming attached to them from the very beginning. The book flies by, as if you're caught up in a movie. Great writing, and GREAT presentation by David! Hope to hear more from him soon.

A highly entertaining spy action adventure
This is a really good audiobook. It surpassed all of my expectations. First off, Hassehoff is a fantastic narrator! He is excellent at pacing, women's and men's voices, and enunciation. His enthusiasm and sense of humor shines through during the entire audiobook.
The story is excellent, and it is such a great idea for a book. There is a little bit of cheesy dialogue, but is rather realistic for an actor caught up in espionage. I am no Cold War expert, but the descriptions of East Berlin seem very realistic. Overall, this is like a great action movie with a dash of humor. It was just the right length and the plot was surprisingly meaty. I enjoyed it as much as Die Hard and Skyfall, and it was much better than the Mission Impossible movies, in my opinion. It was truly action-packed, with a bunch of violence and killing. The violence was just right, similar to the "Die Hard" movie, not over the top like a Tarantino movie. There was a minimum of cursing and sexual situations, which worked out well. If you want a fun action adventure, try this one!

Entertainment value off the charts!!!
The story, the narration, I mean it is David Hasselhoff, and he gives the listener great entertainment value.
Is this a serious listen, no, but I did not expect it to be. It was fun, funny, tongue in cheek, cheeky. I was not in this listen for the literary greatness, but the entertainment value was off the charts. Light, silly, predictable, make ya laugh entertainment.
Come on the star of Baywatch, Knight Rider, and singer of Freedom, what is not to like? Creating diversion along the way by making fun of himself and the James Bond genre. Smart man. Worked for me and with the quasi cliffhanger teaser I would purchase the next installment.

AWESOME!!! Where do we go next?
I have loved David's performances since the FIRST episode of Knight Rider. I was a great fan of Knight Rider; not so much for Babe Watch but it did have it's moments and did not even realize he had other talents...but I do now. I was intrigued by this Audible; mostly because he was the author and the narrator...so I added to my library. I don't really listen that much during any given week...but I listened to this book..a LOT... It sometimes takes me years to finish books more than an hour or too...and I have a tendency to switch between several. This book was an exception...I listened to this frequently..along with my audible Dr Who by Tom Baker (and narrated by Tom)… I finished this in record time; for me anyway... I loved this book. The ties to his real life; the action; the suspense; the romance; the storyline; the intrigue; the sometimes cheesiness; and of the Hoff...all were superb...but I think the best thing was the way David read this...I began to recognize who was speaking by the voice that he used...I love it when the narrators do that... I can project when I read for an audience but trying to do different voices....I would fall flat on my face... David does an excellent job of drawing you into the story thru his narration... can I give 10 stars???? grin.... Just one question.... David, when are you releasing your next in this series? ...was it in Dubai????? thanx David for a great story and a great read.

too much. . .
A good read but a little unrealistic. I would have appreciated a better historical interface.

OMG I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Enjoyed every minute of it. Growing up watching David Hasselhoff has been a lot of fun but I didn't know that he wrote books too. Frikkin awesome.
