About this listen
Brook Eden has never known where she truly belongs. Though raised in the palace of Monaco, she's British by birth and was brought to the Grimaldis under suspicious circumstances as a babe. When Brook's friend, Justin, uncovers the fact that Brook is likely a missing heiress from Yorkshire, Brook leaves the sun of the Mediterranean to travel to the moors of the North Sea, to the estate of her supposed family. The mystery of her mother's death haunts her, and though her father is quick to accept her, the rest of the family and the servants of Whitby Park are not. Only when Brook's life is threatened do they draw close - but their loyalty may come too late to save Brook from the same threat that led to tragedy for her mother.
As heir to a dukedom, Justin is no stranger to balancing responsibilities. When the matters of his estate force him far from Brook, the distance between them reveals that what began as friendship has grown into something much more. But how can their very different loyalties and responsibilities ever come together? And then, for a second time, the heiress of Whitby Park is stolen away because of the very rare treasure in her possession - and this time only the servants of Whitby can save her.

Story
The Court of François I is full of lust, intrigue, and bawdy bon temps—a different world from the quiet country life Diane de Poitiers led with her elderly husband. Now a widow, the elegant Diane is called back to Court, where the King's obvious interest marks her as an enemy to the King's favorite, Anne d'Heilly. The Court is soon electrified by rumors of their confrontations. As Anne calls on her most venomous tricks to drive Diane away, Diane finds an ally in the one member of Court with no allegiance to the King's mistress: his teenage second son, Henri.

An amazing story!
This is not the first story I have read by this author, but this is the best one yet! It was well written and a delightful story as well. It is a clean Christian story written in the regency period! I would recommend this to all ages. It is one of the best Regency stories that I have ever read! I highly recommend this one!

One of my favorites!
Loved it! The narrator was by far one of the best. She really made the story so much better. I always listen to samples before I purchase. I've barely been able to finish a book when the narrator makes all men sound old and crotchety. This narrator had great accents for French, Irish and English. So good!

Miscaterogorized: Bible Study+Mystery Novel
This book had great potential. Had I known that it would turn into a Bible study the last 4 hours I would not have listened. I have no problem with religious references however I do not want to feel like I've had the Bible and someone else's deep religious convictions forced on me.

Sweet and enjoyable
This was a fun, east read. An enjoyable story with a good story line and light humor. It kept my interest and closed nicely. It is rather predictable, but that didn't take much away from the overall pleasure of reading it. The performance was very well done. At the opening of the book I was unsure if I liked the accents used. They sounded off to me for a bit, but soon became used to them and later liked the way it set Brooke's character apart from the rest..

Good Read
This was a good read, the narrator was amazing!
The only thing, it did seem to start dragging. The story-line was a little too long and you start to get lost in some other though and not on the book. It was clean and wholesome, so that’s a plus!

4.5
This is Ms White’s first book and no matter how many rewrite, it’s evident. The very opening thrusts us in and away we go. My favorite series is Shadows over England especially in the thoughtful and effective inclusion of the spiritual message. No subtlety here! Her writing definitely shows a lot more in blending messages. Overall, a very fun book!
