About this listen

Instead of bulging muscles and cosmic powers, Stone McGracen got a knife, a tunic, and a high-five.

Stone McGracen died trying to be a hero, earning him a second chance in a game-like world. Reincarnated, Stone wakes deep in a dungeon armed with a knife, unlimited respawns, and a lot of dungeon monsters between him and freedom. If Stone wants to make it out to the world above, things are going to get... unorthodox. Follow Stone as he claws his way to the top with pure grit, spit, and blood in Sol Anchor Book 1!

About the Series: Sol Anchor kicks off a table-top-inspired LitRPG saga with a healthy mix of humor, magic, and mystery with a big dollop of fantasy combat on top! Follow Stone as he navigates levels, loot, skills, dungeons, and everything that makes GameLit so awesome. Sink your teeth into something a bit out of the norm in Sol Anchor!

Really enjoyed the book. The pacing is a little slow for the first couple of chapters. But the story comes into its own and impressed me! Plenty of twists and turns with a couple of really surprising events I didn't see coming. The magic system is pretty solid. Took me a while to understand exactly how it worked exactly but overall an extremely interesting take.

The eating was not the focus I was looking for. Not impressed with hero or “path”

Not a bad story it's not the best I've ever heard but it's not the worst either definitely worth a credit but not worth $35 if you get this book I can definitely say the best thing about it is even though the intro makes it seem like this entire book takes place in a dungeon good news there's more to this book than that Also my biggest gripe is the book isn't long enough I wish there was more definitely looking forward to getting Book two I feel like the real meat of this story Will start in book two which is why my gripe is this book wasn't long enough

not a bad story

Not enough 1st person POV in the LITRPG genre but this one is here and it's automatically better than 90% just for that. The narrator is newish but a rising star that delivered a great performance. The anime tropes are there but with a refreshing degree of separation. The author did hit a few cliches I've heard in dozens of other books in this genre but they made me grin in their mostly new context. Overall this one is well worth a credit and I listened all the way through in one lone shift at work...
It's one that I'll revisit in a few months, like I do all my favorites.

Great narrator and writing for this genre.

the moment he left the dungeon his supposedly strong will vanished and he gets inslaved, brushes it aside and tries to justify his poor decision through Stockholm syndrome. yea, no ..no excuses can make up for that shitty leap in logic and personality so quickly.

fell flat...

I am about halfway through the book and he is still in the same room he woke up in. I am not impressed but I am hopeful it gets better...

The book was good in the beginning. I really enjoyed the references from our IRL reality and the zero plot armor, besides the whole, you know unlimited responding thing.
Now the things I didn’t like was that the very moment he gets out of the dungeon, he gets put in to slavery and it’s just a preference for me and a personal pet peeve so this book could be for other people, but I personally just did not like the belittling and the remarks that’s practically what a whole entire chapter was about. I wouldn’t say I regret buying this book but I will say it was a pretty big letdown halfway through .

The book was good until midway through
