Story
Another witness had come forward, saying they were sure they had seen someone of Tom’s description near one of the old mine pit lakes. It was going on two years now since his disappearance, but of course, anything was possible. After all, while the clues had gone cold and witness memories faded, there was one thing that doesn’t die away, the scent of death. And that is where the dogs come in.

Story
It should have been a routine investigation. Instead, DEA K-9 agent Adam "Deck" Decker watches in horror as one Denver hospital seems to be ground zero for overdoses of a new drug. Now Deck can only hope a certain ER doctor will help him and his canine partner track down the source. Dr. Tori Sampson has her reasons for not trusting federal agents, especially ones working for the DEA. But the rash of overdoses—including a heartbreaking case involving a teen—is alarmingly high. And the new opioid is not only extremely dangerous, it defies all the usual medical treatments.

Just a really good story!
Love this author. Love K9 rescue books. This one is for you. the whole series actually. Just good read with feel good endings.
however, it is AI voice . But you will get use to it.
I so enjoyed the ending. Read all her books, or have a good listen. I get some of my best multi tasking done this way. Enjoy

I loved the story , but the AI performance was a bit drab. It was hard to catch the excitement because it was so monotone. I much prefer the live reads.

I f÷elt like I was there with the people in the story.
The author told the story so clearly that it felt like I was participating. I became emotionally connected to the people. I was not prepared for the story to end when it did. While several loose threads were tied up, there were hints of new possibilities. The story ended just as the heroine got a new SAR puppy. I want to know the new pup's name and how she did connecting to her new big brothers... I want a nice long sequel, PLEASE!

Narration was poor and distracting from story
I was disappointed that you didn't get a real narrator to read this wonderful story. My mind was constantly editing the tense, phrasing and figures of speech that were botched by the VV.

Did not like the virtual voice. Storyline was ok, but drawn out entirely too much with less K9 story than implied.
