About this listen

Find a missing book. That was the job the woman in the Doc Martens gave us. Easy money, right? Only now it seems she's actually an ancient, powerful sorcerer, and the book is a Book of Power that doesn't want to be found. It wants to tear reality apart at the seams, and it'll use anyone it can to do it.

So now we've got one spectacularly displeased sorcerer, a hungry, still-missing book, a dentist with bad hygiene, and a neighbourhood having some reality issues to deal with. Plus about a day before the book turns our world - and us - inside out.

We've totally got this. I hope.

A cat, a snake and a little old lady

A missing magic book leads to a troubled paradise. Interesting world, well developed main characters and British humor. A different take on the cat detective.

interesting start of a series

I really enjoyed this book. Even with magic and talking cats it's not a 'young adult' story, much more urban fantasy. everything adds up to a promising start for a series

Fun story with good characterization

I bought this book on a whim and I am glad I did. The story fits into the humorous fantasy genre. The characters are well-developed and likable. While the resolution of the story is predictable, that is part of what makes it fun.

Cute story with a cat protagonist

As fantasy goes it was a novel concept, heh, novel. The characters were a little light on being fleshed out but they worked. The story seemed simple enough and was enjoyable. I could see this being a good book for a young adult or a mental vacation. The narrator did a good job.

Cozy Urban Fantasy masquarading as Mystery

I don't really know how I found this book series or why I started it, but I read the first and then despite being bit disappointed something made me give the second book a chance and I ended up finishing the series. I'm uncertain if I'll give this a 3 or a 4, as it was indeed cozy reading, but I wasn't exactly surprised by the mystery aspects...
It's largely almost like a Buddycop comedy in an Urban Fantasy setting with Cat and his Human stumbling trough cases they're given or accidentally run into. They visit places, humorous things happen and odd characters are introduced, then some sort of a magical mess or catastrophe happens and they have to handle it, till with help of someone else they or the someone else can put a more permanent end to it.

What mystery elements there are, well they're usually pretty obvious and the overall connecting mystery largely happens "off book" and large parts of it are told to us. Which is funny, because many things could have been avoided if people simply told the truth... but no lack of communication and things like loosing a number cause more than few of the plot elements to happen.

Sadly the ending is a slight disappointment, I'd have loved to know more about Gobbelinos past lives and why he couldn't remember them outside "they might have done something to me"... and other minor things that are never answered like "Don't trust whom?"

Delightful series

I was a bit hesitant because I thought it might feel too YA or young, but I do like urban fantasy and detective/mystery, so I gave it a shot and enjoyed it so much I promptly devoured the whole series. It’s very charming and funny -with just enough of an edge. Great characters, great pace, and just an all around delight. Only downside is I read (listened to) them all so fast and now I’m sad it’s over. I will definitely find other works by this author to listen to now.

Good

Didn’t grab my attention, everything about this book was fine. Story, performance, etc. it somehow just wasn’t very engaging or interesting.

such fun!

So unique having a cat doing the narrating of the story. I loved it and the story was just great. The narrator did an awesome job too.
