About this listen

All three books of the bestselling Derelict series in one collection!

One captain’s death might turn out to be humanity’s best chance at survival.

As humanity expands into the stars, it discovers the universe is a hostile place. When Captain Slater of the USS Franklin is assigned to a deep-space reconnaissance mission, his ship is destroyed by an unknown alien race.

Much to his surprise, Slater isn’t killed—he’s transformed. He is now a “derelict,” a consciousness bound to his old vessel. Slater must quickly adapt to his new existence before raiders, alien armies, and mysterious forces seek to destroy him for a second and final time.

A great story. A somewhat rushed ending.

Book 2 ends with “we’re just getting started! Still a lot of story to tell!” Then book 3 was like “just kidding! We wrapped everything up, and this is over.”

That having been said, I did enjoy all 3 books. In fact, I read them all on Kindle unlimited a long time ago and decided to get the Audible version to experience the whole story again.

Solid, worth it for the box set

It was a very solid litRPG book. I got a free review copy, but I would have paid a credit for the box set. I do wish there had been a bit more explanation for the final battle in the last book. It felt too quick at the end. And I really thought that enemy was a core itself... I'd probably call it litRPG lite though, not a lot of focus on stats or leveling up. Quick and fun though, and the narrator was good

Fantastic Narration

Gotten through book one so far; fantastic narration by Jack Voraces, love how he gives each character their own voice. Story is great, interesting take on the litrpg genre, placing it space & turning a few tropes on their head makes for a wonderful world to listen to.

sci-fi dungeon core that develops into a great read

I started out not being sure if I liked the story or not. By the end of the 1st book, I was just interested enough to keep listening; I'm glad I did. I ended up really enjoying the story as time went on and I think it's one I'll revisit in the future. I really liked the dungeon core elements and I kinda wish it leaned into it more than it did. I'd recommend it if your into both fleet combat and dungeon core books.

Getting this was a no-brainer! I love litRPG's and Dean Henegar is golden!!!

I always review each book separately when dealing with a boxed set...

Bk1 Repel Boarders

What an exciting pulse-pounding beginning to what has all the earmarks of a great trilogy. Initially I was a little hesitant on the set because it looked like a syfy-milt series, but wait Dean Henegar wrote it and it actually was a litRPG! So it turned into a no brainer and I snapped it up. Because Dean Henegar is golden! Since I've loved everything he's written... ❤ ♥ ❤ In this book Captain Slater looses his life by repelling boarders, but instead of dying outright he comes to as the core in the now Derelict that had once been the proud ship of the US naval fleet, the Franklin exploring new horizons.
So yeah grab the book better yet get the boxed set to save on mula, even better the audiobook is whispersynced!

Bk2 CounterAttack

Ohhhh! Wow! Soooooooo good! Yeah I know it's a Military Syfi but believe/you me it's so much better when it's a litRPG, 'cause there's Gnomes, Orks, Trolls, and Billage Rats! And Captain Slater has his hands full with the counsil ships all wanting to take him out! Luckily he's gotten a few human, and even an Elf as allies. Good thing too, because they're all fantastic and help him level up his core everytime there's a new ship to fight.
You don't wanna miss out on this CounterAttack! So yeah grab the book, better yet grab the boxed set and enjoy the heck outta it!

Bk3 Sarton Station

Wow! Dean Henegar cuts loose in this this no holds Barred in his grande fanale of Derelict. Captain Slater finds himself adrift within some wreckage that housed his core, and he's dying, starving loosing his mind one nano-bot at a time. Luckily some Dwarf salvagers find him, and his slow march towards finding himself begins. Luckily he finds talking to himself, his fragment, entertaining and helpful. Slater also found allies the Chixturax, an insectoid race that kinda sorta looks like a Praying Mantis, but not. And he makes a deal they supply the material and he makes the ships! He also has a deal with the administer too, but the deal falls through and the two ships fight their way off Sarton Station... They part ways as Slater makes his inexorable race back to earth.
Yeah, you'll need to put the snippets I've already given you and find out whether Slater can win the day... Ohhhh and maybe just maybe someday there might even be a spinoff. Hopefully Jack Voraces will narrate it too!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Gripping Sci-Fi Adventure!

"Derelict: The Complete Series (Books 1-3)" is an absolute must-listen for any fan of deep-space thrillers, military sci-fi, and high-stakes adventure. From the very first chapter, this audiobook had me hooked with its intense atmosphere, well-developed characters, and a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The world-building is phenomenal, immersing you in a universe where every detail feels authentic. The pacing is spot-on, balancing action-packed sequences with moments of suspense and intrigue. The cast of characters is compelling, each with their own depth, flaws, and motivations that make them feel real.

What truly elevates this series is the narration. The performance is stellar—engaging, dynamic, and full of emotion. Every character is distinct, making it easy to get lost in the story. The sound design and production quality add an extra layer of immersion, making this an audiobook that’s hard to pause.

If you love stories about derelict ships, survival in the vastness of space, and the thrill of uncovering dark secrets, this box set delivers in every way. Highly recommended! 🚀🎧
