I’m pregnant. Yep, you heard that right. Pregnant. And while I’m trying really hard not to freak out about that, Hollow Cove is busy preparing for its Headless Horseman reenactment—a big deal around here, apparently. But just as the town is gearing up for spooky fun, events take a real-life terrifying twist. A body is discovered, and carved into it are the words: “Give it back.”

The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

I should be happy for her. Right? But I'm not. Because I know this Derrick character is bad news. Call it my witchy instincts, but I'm convinced something is seriously off with the guy. So how do I prove it to my aunt? The pressure is on as I only have four days to figure it out before the wedding—yes, four days until Beverly says, "I do" to that slimy bastard. As the clues start to come together, I have to wade through a pack of lies to get to the truth and find out who Derrick Baudelaire really is—and what he's hiding.

I was sure that once I got married my crazy life would calm down so I could get some well-deserved romantic interludes with my new husband. It didn't. And when a stranger shows up in our town, everything falls apart. Aside from knowing he's loaded, no one seems to have any information about him. But I do know one thing. He’s bad news. The only problem here was when couples got engaged, there was usually a proposal of sorts, an exchange of promises, and a mutual agreement to spend the rest of their lives together. But three weeks have now passed since the night I found that black box with that pretty ring, and still, the chief hasn't proposed. But I've got worse problems. A mysterious and ominous curse spreads across our town, and we don't know who's responsible or why it's happening.

Lucifer took my magic. Okay, so technically, Derrick the incubus douche took it, but he was Lucifer's guy and following orders. Still, I can't be a witch or a Merlin without magic. Can my life get any worse? Of course, it can. As I try to adjust and accept life without a drop of magic in my veins, Marcus disappears. Well, not exactly, more like he ghosts me. He's not returning my calls or my texts. Just when I think I finally have my love life on track, it gets derailed, and my heart is slowly torn apart.
