🎙️ Episode 22 -"Have You Ever Been DARVO’d? The Abuse Tactic Nobody Talks About"

July Spotlight – Mental Health & Entrepreneurship

Host: Tina White, The Trigger and The Truth

🎙️ Series Launch Intro: DARVO In Real Life – Mask Off

“Let me tell you how we got here…

A couple weeks ago, I received a text message from my beloved niece.

Someone I love like my own child.

A young girl who, in a different life, would've been sleeping peacefully in the guest room at my house again this summer.

She asked if she could come stay with me.

And my first instinct? Of course, yes.

That’s what love says. That’s what family says.

    But here’s the problem...

She’s the daughter of the same sibling who violently assaulted me in February 2020.

The same sibling who pointed a gun at me.

The same sibling who launched a smear campaign against my name when I spoke the truth.

And suddenly, I found myself caught between the person I used to be—the fixer, the protector, the one who put everybody’s needs before her own.

And the woman I’ve fought like hell to become through therapy, boundaries, and healing.

Over two days, I spoke with both her parents.

Even after I told my niece’s mom not to give him my number, my sibling called me anyway.

And I answered. I let him speak. He asked if his daughter could stay with me.

    At first, I said yes.

Out of habit. Out of love for that little girl.

But after sleeping on it... consulting with my circle... and sitting in my truth...

    I realized:

    I can’t go back.

    I won’t go back.

So I sent the text that closed the door.

And just like that—the fake politeness, the pretend apology, it all evaporated.

His true colors showed, just like they did that day outside the real estate office.

The same rage. The same manipulation.

And in that moment, I realized something deeper:

    This isn’t just family drama.

    This is DARVO.

Deny. Attack. Reverse Victim and Offender.

A manipulation tactic where the person who harms you denies it ever happened, attacks your character, and then plays the victim when you protect yourself.

And I almost got caught in it again.

    Almost.

But therapy showed me the trap.

    Healing showed me the pattern.

    And wisdom told me no.

Even when your heart is breaking…

Even when a child you love is caught in the crossfire…

Protecting your peace sometimes means saying no to the innocent because the guilty still refuse to change.

    That’s the cost of healing.

And that’s why I’m launching this series.

Over the next four days, I’m going to walk you through how DARVO plays out in real life, far beyond the textbooks and TED Talks:

➡️ Day 1: The Betrayal Nobody Saw Coming – How it all began.

➡️ Day 2: When Silence Becomes Survival – What happens when your truth gets buried beneath their lies.

➡️ Day 3: Rebuilding from the Rubble – Therapy, boundaries, and reclaiming my business and my peace.

➡️ Day 4: The Power of Truth – Why your story matters, even if they never admit what they did.

This is DARVO in Real Life: Mask Off.

No more cover-ups. No more pretending.

    Just the truth.

And if this is your story too

    I want you to know:

    You’re not alone.

  • Carefully Curated Facade: The Mental Health Cost of Performing for Likes and Validation
    Jul 3 2025
🎙️ Episode 21: Carefully Curated Facade: The Mental Health Cost of Performing for Likes and Validation

    Host: Tina White

Podcast: The Trigger and The Truth

Series: July Spotlight – Mental Health & Entrepreneurship

    💡 Episode Summary:

In today’s episode of The Trigger and The Truth, we’re pulling back the curtain on a reality many of us get caught in—the carefully curated facade of social media.

We live in a world where success is filtered, happiness is staged, and highlight reels have replaced honesty. But what’s the cost of chasing a life that looks good online but feels empty offline?

I’m breaking down the mental health toll of constantly comparing yourself to someone else’s performance. From anxiety and depression to disconnection and burnout, we’re diving into how this digital pressure impacts entrepreneurs, working moms, and women trying to build their business while holding onto their peace.

Most importantly, we’ll explore how to break free from this social media trap and build a life you don’t have to filter to love.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
    • The hidden dangers of selective sharing and staged success stories
    • Why comparing your behind-the-scenes to someone’s highlight reel destroys your peace
    • The emotional and mental health impact of the “social media hustle culture”
    • How to set boundaries with social media to protect your emotional mastery
    • Practical ways to detox from comparison and focus on what really matters
    • How the Pick Up The Pieces: 21 Day Emotional Mastery Strategy for Black Women in Business can help you reclaim your peace in the digital age

    Key Takeaways:

✔️ Social media is curated content, not complete truth. Stop comparing your real life to someone’s filtered moments.

✔️ Protect your mental health by defining success on your terms, not Instagram’s.

✔️ Emotional mastery means knowing when to unplug and reconnect with your real life.

    Practical Exercises:
    • Social Media Detox: Take 1 day off this week and reconnect with your real life.
    • Reality Check Journal: Reflect when comparison creeps in—what’s real vs. what’s edited?
    • Define Your Own Success: Write your personal definition of success and keep it visible.

🎙️ Episode 20: Functional Burnout-"High-Functioning, Low Peace: The Hidden Cost of Survival Mode"

    Host: Tina White

Podcast: The Trigger and The Truth

Series: July Spotlight – Mental Health & Entrepreneurship

    💡 Episode Summary:

You’re not in bed all day. You’re not crying in a corner.

    You’re working. You’re posting. You’re performing.

    But inside? You’re unraveling.

In this episode of The Trigger and The Truth, Tina White unpacks the silent epidemic of functional burnout—a state where high performance masks emotional depletion. Especially common among Black women in business, functional burnout is often misdiagnosed as ambition when it’s actually survival on autopilot.

Tina gets real about how this type of burnout shows up:

    • Smiling while secretly shutting down
    • Overproducing out of fear, not alignment
    • Feeling like you’re doing everything, yet going nowhere emotionally

You’ll also learn why emotional mastery—not another productivity hack—is the key to breaking free.

    What You'll Walk Away With:

✔️ Clarity on how burnout can hide behind “success”

✔️ Tools to pause, regulate, and reset—without guilt

✔️ Why emotional intelligence is your true business strategy

✔️ A mindset shift to reclaim your peace while growing your brand

  • Truth Serum: Harmony Over Hustle: Design the Life You Actually Want (Day 7)
    Jun 30 2025
    🎙️ Day 7 – Truth Serum Mid-Year Reset

Truth Serum: Harmony Over Hustle: Design the Life You Actually Want (Day 7)

Welcome back — we made it.

This is Day 7 of the Mid-Year Reset, and the last day of June.

Before anything else — if no one told you today, let me be the first to say:

    I’m proud of you.

For showing up. For sticking through. For even wanting to do better. That alone is a shift.

    Now… let’s land this plane.

Here’s the truth: you are the engine.

    The blueprint. The visionary.

And when you’re not okay — none of it runs right.

Not the business, not the brand, not the boundaries, not the balance.

That foundation you're trying to build on? It starts with you.

🧠 “You don’t need more hustle. You need more harmony.”

So today, we’re closing this challenge with four final moves to shift you from grind mode to growth and grounding mode.

These are the systems that don’t just build success — they preserve your sanity.

🔧 1. Recommit to Your CEO Routine

This is non-negotiable. Whether you’re running a business or rebuilding your life — structure is what protects your energy.

    Pick three daily non-negotiables:

    • One for your body
    • One for your mind
    • One for your spirit

Morning walks. Midday boundaries. Evening silence. You choose. But make it yours. Because chaos fills the space where structure is missing.

🔍 2. Review Your Client (or Customer) Journey

Let’s be honest: if your client experience is clunky, it’s costing you more than sales — it’s costing you peace.

    Ask yourself:

    • Is your process smooth?
    • Are expectations clear?
    • Do you feel respected in the exchange?

Friction equals stress — for both sides.

Clean it up so you can show up without resentment.

    🧠 3. Prioritize Emotional Sustainability

    Check in:

    • What’s emotionally costing you the most?
    • Where are you overextending?
    • What’s draining joy from your purpose?

It’s time to adjust the delivery, renegotiate the contract, or set new boundaries.

This isn’t about pushing through. It’s about protecting your power.

    🗓️ 4. Set Micro-Milestones & Monthly Reflections

    The rest of 2025 isn’t a race. It’s a rhythm.

    Break it into 30-day chunks:

    • One goal
    • One intention
    • One moment to pause and reflect

    Because...

    Structure regulates your nervous system

    Delegation protects emotional energy

Progress tracking builds confidence and self-trust

Boundaries protect both your peace and your profits

✅ Bonus Moves to Lock In Your Reset:

📌 Reengage Your Team or Support System

Realign them with clarity. People can’t help you if they don’t know where you’re going.

📌 Reset Your Weekly CEO Flow

Structure = safety. Rebuild your week to hold both strategy and self-care. This is where hustle meets healing.

    📌 Update Your Client Journey

Make it seamless, thoughtful, and emotionally intelligent. Every stress point is a chance to reduce overwhelm — for you and them.

    📌 Lock In Micro-Milestones

Consistency isn’t about perfection — it’s about pacing. Small wins keep your momentum strong and your burnout low.

Let me say this loud for the ones who still feel behind:

You’re not behind. You’re just in need of a reset.

  • Redefining Family: “Just Because We’re Related Doesn’t Mean We’re Family”

🎙️ Episode 17 Title: Redefining Family: “Just Because We’re Related Doesn’t Mean We’re Family”🎧 Host: Tina White

Podcast: The Trigger and The Truth

Category: Mental Health, Family Dynamics, Personal Growth, Emotional Wellness

    💡 Episode Summary:

In this powerful short, Tina White delivers an honest and emotionally resonant open letter about what it truly means to redefine family—not just by blood, but by love, loyalty, and emotional safety.

Tina shares her lived experience navigating the deep grief and trauma tied to toxic family dynamics, the silent abuse we’re taught to normalize, and how generational loyalty often comes at the cost of our mental health. This episode is for anyone who's ever had to let go of a “relative” to reclaim their peace.

As Tina says, “Just because we’re related doesn’t make us family.” With bold vulnerability, she gives permission to choose yourself and challenges the long-standing belief systems that have protected abuse under the guise of kinship.

    🔥 Key Topics:
    • Redefining family through a mental health lens
    • The cultural normalization of toxic family behavior
    • How unhealed relatives project their pain onto others
    • The emotional cost of silence, loyalty, and enabling
    • Choosing peace over tradition
    • Why healing sometimes means walking away

    🧠 Mental Health Takeaways:
    • You don’t have to stay loyal to what’s breaking you
    • Emotional boundaries are a form of self-preservation
    • Grieving a family that never protected you is valid
    • Peace is not a privilege—it’s a birthright
    • Letting go is not bitterness, it’s clarity

    🗣️ Quote from Tina:

"Family has been the main source of trauma in my life. And I’ve learned that I have every right to redefine what that word means for me. I’m not dishonoring anyone—I’m choosing to honor myself."

  • Truth Serum: Revenue & Reality: Reset How You Get Paid (Day 6)
    Jun 28 2025

🎙️ Truth Serum: Revenue & Reality: Reset How You Get Paid (Day 6)

    A 7-Part Mid-Year Reset Challenge

Welcome back — we’re almost at the finish line. It’s Day 6 of the Mid-Year Reset, and today we’re digging into something most people avoid until they’re deep in burnout and resentment:

    👉🏾 Your revenue strategy.

Let’s be honest for a second — and I mean brutally honest.

    💭 Here’s the hard question:

Is the way you’re making money aligned with the life you’re actually living?

Or are you stuck in an outdated pricing model, working inside offers that don’t fit anymore, serving clients who drain you, while calling it "the grind"?

Because I’ve been there — making money while mentally unraveling.

And let me tell you… money stress hits different when you’re trying to protect your peace at the same time.

Here’s what I know for sure:

“Revenue is not just about money — it’s about peace.”

It’s about how you feel when the invoice is paid.

It’s about whether the work energizes you or empties you.

It’s about whether your income respects your value, time, and capacity — or constantly threatens them.

And if what you're doing is paying everyone but you — emotionally, energetically, or financially — it’s time to change the strategy.

🔧 Today is your revenue reset.

    It’s time to:

    • Revamp your offers to reflect where you are now
    • Raise your rates if they no longer match your energy
    • Retire those packages that no longer serve the version of you who’s doing the healing and the hustling
    • And most importantly…
    • Make space for aligned clients — the ones who value your work and your boundaries

    Because let’s be real:

Every dollar isn’t worth the emotional debt.

    🧠 Your Challenge Today:
    1. Review your income streams.
    2. Ask: Do these reflect my current energy, value, and goals?
    3. Make three lists:

    • What stays?
    • What goes?
    • What evolves?

🔄 Why This Matters for Your Mental Health:
    • When your money flows with your energy, you stop resenting your work
    • When your prices reflect your boundaries, your nervous system relaxes
    • When you stop undercharging, you stop overextending

Revenue should be a tool — not a trigger.

If your business model is making you anxious, exhausted, or bitter — it’s not a business. It’s a trap.

    And guess what?

You have permission to exit the trap and create a model that’s nourishing, sustainable, and respectful of your whole self.

    Jun 27 2025
🎙️ Truth Serum: Simplify to Amplify: Clean Your Systems, Reset Your Revenue (Day 5)

Podcast: The Trigger and The Truth

    Host: Tina White

    Series: Truth Serum – A 7-Part Mid-Year Reset Challenge

    🧠 Episode Overview:

Time’s moving—and if you don’t clean up what’s running in the background, it’ll keep running you. In Day 5, Tina White calls in all the earners—the entrepreneurs, the C-suites, the stay-at-home CEOs—to take an honest look at the systems, subscriptions, and strategies that are silently draining your time, energy, and money.

    Because here’s the truth:

“Messy back end equals messy mind.”

If your workflows are patchwork, your inbox is on fire, and you’re doing admin instead of alignment—you’re not just disorganized. You’re overwhelmed. And that’s costing you clarity, cash flow, and peace of mind.

This episode is your official clean-up call.

    🔍 In This Episode:

    • The unspoken link between disorganized systems and mental burnout
    • How poor workflows impact your decision-making, creativity, and clarity
    • The emotional cost of making money in ways that no longer serve you
    • Why you must stop undercharging and over-delivering from outdated pricing models
    • How to build a backend that frees your mind, time, and nervous system

    📓 Today’s Challenge:

    Audit your systems.

What tools are helping you? What’s dead weight?

Cancel, consolidate, or delegate three non-essential tasks or subscriptions.

    Review your revenue streams.

Are they in alignment with your energy and evolution?

Adjust your offers to match your worth—not your old survival patterns.

🧠 Mental Health & Wellness Connection:

Your mental clutter often mirrors your digital clutter.

When you streamline your backend, your brain exhales.

When you raise your prices to honor your growth, your nervous system stabilizes.

When your systems are working for you, you stop feeling like you’re working against yourself.

💬 “Clarity is peace. Systems are self-care. Pricing is power.”
