About this listen
Jace's return to Kansas is an instant reminder that there really is no place like home. The tavern is still brimming with losers, practical jokers, and motorcycle chicks. Even the town's only Goth is still wearing eyeliner. But just as Jace is about to click her heels and hightail out of there, she's roped into a brand-new case. Somebody is possessed. And the bodies are piling up....
They call him the Gallowsman. According to legend, he was sentenced to hang-though his crimes still have not been specified. When he was strung up to die, his spirit stuck around waiting for people to hang themselves... so he could steal their bodies. Now, with the undead rising up and going on a rampage, Jace must put her own neck on the line. Can she get the Gallowsman to give up the ghost?

Story
Welcome to The Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore and Bar. I'm Sam Quinn, the werewolf book nerd in charge. I run my business by one simple rule: Everyone needs a good book and a stiff drink, be they vampire, wicche, demon, or fae. No wolves, though. Ever. I serve the supernatural community of San Francisco. We've been having some problems lately. Okay, I'm the one with the problems. The broken body of a female werewolf washed up on my doorstep. What makes sweat pool at the base of my spine, though, is realizing the scars she bears are identical to the ones I conceal.

The Price family has spent generations studying the monsters of the world, working to protect them from humanity - and humanity from them. Enter Verity Price. Despite being trained from birth as a cryptozoologist, she'd rather dance a tango than tangle with a demon, and is spending a year in Manhattan while she pursues her career in professional ballroom dance. Sounds pretty simple, right?

Hadley Whitaker is a liar, a killer, and a chocoholic, but she's getting better about the first two. Or maybe she's just getting better at them. Some days it's hard for her to tell fact from fiction, but only one truth matters. Goddess willing, she's going to be the next Potentate of Atlanta. Even if it means playing nice with Midas Kinase, a shifter whose mysterious past might just be grimmer than her own. When a bloodthirsty rogue begins hunting the city's paranormals, Hadley ropes Midas into letting her work the case. But that rope starts to feel more like a noose.

I make a living out of screwing over the jerks who capture and torment supernatural beasties. But when I free a bunch of particularly powerful monsters from their cages, I'm not counting on them following me home like lost puppies - stunningly hot lost puppies, but still. These manly monsters are determined to repay me for my help, and they won't get out of my apartment, until they're satisfied we're even. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. My name's Lyra Ridley, and I run headlong into supernatural danger for a living. When a criminal has magic too dangerous to merely lock up, we send them to a blackout prison. Hell would've been a better destination for this guy. As a lowly cop in the LVMPD's Rapid Response unit, I'm used to dealing with all kinds of dumpster-fire scenarios, from drunk salamanders on a building-melting bender and angry manticore landlords threatening to eat tenants' gallbladders in lieu of payment to human summoners calling up monsters from the deep to impress their girlfriends to name a few.

Story
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Story
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yeah, I'd make it a real Bloodhound files book that starts off with the cliff hanger from the last book. WTH?

Creative ending to a fun series
This was a great and fun way to revisit the whole series before saying goodbye. As for the reviewers who are mad about the ending... That's silly, theres no mystery, its plain. Were you paying attention at all throughout the books?

Ok, but not my favorite.
The story was extremely confusing. I wasn't sure what the heck was going on in the beginning. Then it made a little more sense. I heard it's the last book in the series and I feel it leaves you hanging. Johanna Parker was awesome as usual.

Any additional comments?
I read the reviews, so I was prepared. How could I pass up the last book whose dialogue/banter/cadence reminded me of The Thin Man and His Girl Friday movies. He brings back almost all the previous characters and then fades to black. How can you not love the way it ended? Outstanding narrator, gonna miss the series, but what a way to go! Well Done!

I Really Hope this is not the Last Book
Where does Undead to the World rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It ranks among the the most entertaining. It is fast moving and fun to read/listen to.
What did you like best about this story?
Love the back and forth between Jace and Charlie.
What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is great. She sounds natural, like she's not just reading a book.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
If this is the last book, I am very upset at the ending. A last book should have wrapped up all the strings not leave a cliffhanger. Most of the time it kept me interested and laughing.
Any additional comments?
If this is the last book.... I'm pulling for Charlie.

Excellent continuation
With the last book ending on David telling Jace he was trapped by the wizard who originally pulled her from her reality, and that it was a trap for her as well. Getting yanked into a full blown expansive alternate reality built entirely by said evil wizard makes perfect sense if you consider she also has fought evil comic book obsessed killers, has been to both a Japanese hell and a virtual reality version of heaven, fought the same wizard from blending his world with the one she currently resides in and has had repeated headbutting contests with extradementional gods.....it actually makes perfect sense.
*spoilers below*
Yes, it ends on Jace not verbalizing her decision to either stay in Throppirelem or go back to her home world, but that makes sense as well. I prefer to think she chose to stay because she has developed much stronger personal attachments to the people in this new world than she ever did in her homeworld. But other readers may have wanted her to go back home.
I think this was a great conclusion to the series.

Perfectly suited :)
I was a little wary of what this last book may be in the end due to many of the reviews I read prior to listening to this one. Upon listening to the last sentence of this story, I couldn't help but smile. The ending was perfectly suited to this series :) I couldn't have imagined a better way for this to go. No spoiler here. You'll just have to see what you think for yourself. I say worth the price or credit. Narration was perfect all the way through. I listened to all 6 books over a 4 day period and found them thoroughly entertaining. Very pleased.
