The training, pacing, and technique requirements are very different from regular running. But this isn’t what triathletes have been told. Fortunately, with the right kind of run training, the triathlon run doesn’t have to be a long, painful slog with a stumble to the finish. Triathlon Running Foundations provides the specific information athletes need in order to feel strong for every step of the run, all the way to the finish.

Story
As he did so masterfully in his New York Times best seller The Gatekeepers, Jacques Steinberg creates a compelling portrait of people obsessed with reaching a life-defining goal. In this instance, the target is an Ironman triathlon---a 2.4-mile open-water swim followed by a 112-mile bike ride, then finally a 26-mile marathon run, all of which must be completed in no more than seventeen hours. Steinberg focuses not on the professional who live off the prize money and sponsorships, but on a handful of triathletes who regard the sport as a hobby.

Do not set yourself up for failure on race day! Simply doubling your Olympic distance training will not work. Those who do this will struggle. Do not be one of these! 70.3 triathlon is a serious step up and preparation is key.

struggling with breathing when you swim? get this book!
yo! i can’t say enough good stuff about this book. i was inspired this year to complete an ironman 70.3 this year and i signed up for a race in december. now like most of us new to the sport we worry about the swim and that was definitely me. i started to scour the internet for information and i came across tarens youtube channel. i was able to find this book and i was hooked! the book is jam packed with information related to triathlon specific swimming. the book also includes drills that have helped me get to where i am at currently. when i first started swimming 3 weeks ago i could barely swim 25 yards and i was out of breath, heart pounding out of my chest and i was honestly deflated. i stuck to it and continued to practice all of the drills. “breathe like a dolphin”, “blow bubbles through your nose and hum” these are a few things that ran through my head as i would swim and one day it just clicked. that day was yesterday! i was able to swim 1000 yards non stop! i wasn’t out of breath and my breathing pattern has improved massively. not only that im able to stay streamlined in the way and not get those sinks legs. while im not perfect i have to give credit to this book because it has definitely given me the confidence that i needed! thank you taren for an awesome book! you rock!!!!🫡🫡🫡🫡
