About this listen
Perfect for fans of story-driven GameLit and immersive LitRPG worlds.
No class? No problem. (Well… actually, lots of problems.)
Ben Ashwood is losing at life—big time. Broke, single, and stuck with the world’s worst boss, he’s just about given up. But when his overenthusiastic best friend hands him a golden ticket—a chance to enter the most advanced VR game ever created—he hesitates. Because knowing Ben’s luck, even fantasy worlds won’t cut him a break.
And he’s right.
Stranded in a brutal world without a starting class, Ben must rely on his wits alone to survive relentless undead, dim-witted hill giants, and one massive jerk of a Bloodknight. The game is stacked against him, the system is unforgiving, and worst of all? He’s already made enemies.
He entered with nothing. What he finds could change everything.

About this series: In this pulse-pounding LitRPG/GameLit adventure, survival isn’t just about skill—it’s about defying the system itself. When Ben Ashwood enters the most advanced VR game ever created, he quickly learns that being classless isn’t just a disadvantage—it’s a death sentence. Hunted by ruthless players, unstoppable guilds, and forces that bend reality itself, Ben must outthink, outfight, and outmaneuver an entire world set against him. But as he unravels the game’s deepest secrets, one truth becomes clear: this isn’t just a game anymore. If he fails, everyone loses.

Story
In just seven days, the world will crumble. The System's Descent will usher in a new era of chaos: wild animals mutating, monstrous creatures emerging, and the cessation of modern technology. Humanity will be left defenseless. Drew Wright knows none of this. At least not until he is rudely ripped from his bed and thrust into a white room to undergo a taser-happy ‘Tutorial’. Turns out, he is one of a thousand randomly selected people to be forewarned of the approaching apocalypse. Now, he faces the delightful task of convincing his wife and mother of the devastation hurtling towards them.

Story
Ominous obelisks land on Earth with a single message: Join the games to give humanity a fighting chance to survive... Or roll over and die. Too bad for them, Warren isn't the rolling-over type. Cancer may be kicking Warren's a$$, but he's not about to let aliens destroy his home and everything he loves (which is mostly just his dog, Buck). Besides, what does he have to lose? Better to die with sword in hand, bleeding out from a head wound than in some hospital bed...

Story
Adam isn't isn't even given the chance to lick his wounds after a deep betrayal before a mysterious force pulls him into into a new, fantastical world. He doesn't mind much. Penniless, luckless, and aimless, Adam wasn't particularly fond of his old world anyway. Maybe this can be the fresh start he needs. First, he'll have to deal with being attacked by shadowy monsters, imprisoned by guardsmen, and pressed into service by the resident nobility. But unlike Earth...he's not entirely powerless.

Yet, while the world crumbled under the weight of despair, David felt something unexpected: he felt at home. Even after being forced into the [Cleric] Class, David refused to yield. Story
Orodan was an orphaned street rat who clawed his way to the county militia with hard work. When calamitous events unfold and draw him into events bigger than himself, Orodan's battle-loving disposition leads to a warrior's death. Then he wakes up again at the start of the Cataclysm. Then again. And again. In a world of skills, titles, and blessings, a smart time-looper would perhaps scheme, plan, amass equipment, and allies. But not Orodan. If there's one thing he's good at, it's stubbornly trying the same thing over and over again via brute force till it's done.

Everyone has been granted a new name, a starting bonus, and a rousing kick up the backside. Some got a sword, some a crown, and me . . . A potato?! Story
I used to be the greatest Earth Mage in my world. The head of the entire Order of Architects. But the older you get, the more you come to realize that at some point, you need to retire, so that you can have the chance to enjoy a peaceful life and to cede your place to the young, some of whom have already turned two thousand years old . . .So that's what I did. But I failed to account for one thing: during the course of my long life, I'd accumulated too many enemies, and they had decided to spoil my retirement. So they died along with me. And I hope their deaths were final. But mine was not!

Bernt might have graduated from the Mage Academy, but not everyone has the money or connections to launch a prestigious career as a mage. Bernt finds himself working in the city sewers as an Underkeeper among the other rejects of Halfbridge's magery. He may spend more time unclogging pipes than fighting monsters, but hey, it's a stable job, and that's what counts. With the help of his unregistered soul-devouring demonic familiar, he'll save enough to launch his career as an adventurer—just as soon as he can afford some proper gear.

The heroes Terry Fairway once idolized have turned against him, hunting him down at every turn. Story
Egor, a fresh college grad from Russia, takes his classmate's advice and joins a popular VR game, hoping to earn some cash. With a tight budget that won't cover a full account or a fancy VR immersion capsule, he opts for a free trial account and fires up his ancient gaming console. Egor's plan is simple: mine ore in the sandbox and slaughter hordes of rabbits, all in the name of scoring some sweet loot. Little does he know, he's about to stumble upon an item that will make the game's elite players stop at nothing to take him down…

Beyond that, the author does a great job at bring some amazing characters to life, both with their writing and his performance while reading. I love how different each character feels as he reads from their point of view.
I cannot wait to see how the series continues. it brings back that feeling of extreme excitement when I was waiting for the next Harry Potter book and such experiences don't come along that often, and when I find another series in the future that really excites me I'm sure I'll remember being this excited about these books.
Thank you Mr. Chamber's! I'm really looking forward to what's to come!

This story begins when Ben, an unsuccessful call center salesman of printer protection plans, is invited by his best friend Will to participate with him in the limited entry Beta Test of a new, cutting edge, truly immersive online role playing game (RPG), The Wylds Online. Will, who is successful and whose life generally seems to be on track, is elated by this opportunity. Ben, however, who rarely finds that things go his way, is much more dubious, especially having heard a troubling story about the fate of an earlier player. Despite his concerns, Ben is convinced by Will to participate in the Beta.
While Will’s inception into the RPG proceeds normally - he chooses his Class of Cleric - hapless Ben is denied the opportunity to choose a Class, a critical starting element of the RPG. Ben finds himself classless, unsure of how he will proceed in the game with such an atypical status. He is granted something else unexpected (which I will not give away) which, while not compensating for his lack of a Class, encourages him to forge ahead and make the best of his situation.
I will not relate any more details of the story because I do not want to deprive the listeners of the pleasure of experiencing the tale for themselves. However, I do want to share some of the aspects that made this audiobook such a fantastic experience. First of all, the characters (not just Ben and Will but all of the characters) are well developed, highly engaging, and relatable. The storyline is exceptionally creative and immersive and it gripped my attention from start to finish. There are unexpected twists and turns as the story develops and, as I listened, I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. Overall it was a superb listening experience and I will look forward to the next audiobook by the author!
The audiobook is narrated by the author himself and he performs admirably. I always appreciate author narrated audiobooks because they know just how to lend emphasis at critical junctures.
I want to point out that you do not have to be a gamer to love this listen. I do not play RPGs but still truly appreciated this audiobook (if audiobooks are not your thing, I’m sure this title would be equally awesome as a book).
I am always excited when I find a new favorite author and, I am extremely happy to say, that I have found one here! Get this audiobook/book now - you don’t want to miss this experience!
