 Mary, the wife of a prophet, learns from her husband’s dying breath that they owe a substantial debt. She is bothered by the return of a friend who harbors a mysterious secret and a sinister plan for revenge. Mary must do what she can to help her friend while avoiding the same fate that could lead to her destruction. Despite grief, fear, and exhaustion, Mary will work hard around town to gather the means to pay the debt or see her sons be forced to work in a foreign land. “The Widow’s Oil” is an entertaining character study in perseverance, faith, and love during a time when all odds are against her success.
