About this listen

WHEN IN DOUBT, WING IT.

The Stellar Thief collects together the first four books in the Emberling series, a pulse-pounding, adrenaline-fueled space opera that will have you clinging to the edge of your seat!

Slim Taggart has stolen plenty of things in his short life. That's what happens when you come from a family of planet-hopping thieves.

But when he somehow finds himself in possession of a shard from an ancient alien tech known as the Emberling, the heat is suddenly cranked up to scorching levels.

Before Taggart knows it, a half-dozen criminal syndicates are on his tail, desperate for the powerful payload.

And that's before he manages to take aboard a motley crew of characters who each openly admit they'd kill for it, too.

Luckily, Taggart has a plan. He always does.

He just hasn't quite figured out what it is yet...

Included in this box set:

  1. Exiled
  2. Recoil
  3. Surge
  4. Valor

Note: This series is a loving tribute to classic pulp sci-fi. If you're seeking hard sci-fi, you might want to search elsewhere. But for those who crave thrilling escapades on distant worlds teeming with bizarre alien lifeforms, look no further — the Emberling series awaits!

Yiiipppeeee yaaahhhooooo!

What a ride?! Another wild adventure from Daniel Young. Who thought getting the prize would only be the beginning of the story? I can’t wait to see how the gang solves this conundrum.

AI narration stymied story

The AI narration was awful luckily the story was good. It became an issue of me correcting pronunciation like "deer" for 'dire" and many more

S

Enjoyable & especially appreciated it was part of Audible Plus catalog. Was disappointed there isn't any continuing books in this series yet; as it ended before the main situation was resolved, leaving me with an obviousky unfinished series.

virtual ai did pretty good on narration, which I was hoping it wouldn't, as I'd hate to see audible narrators lose their jobs. I mean, where would Audible be without narrators like Mark Boyett or RC Bray? I don't see how ai narration can hold a candle to their like.

The story & characters were overall pretty interesting & not bad for this type of storyline. I did get a little bored with the, what seemed to me to be, overlong introspectiobs on the relationship of the father to his kids (the MC, his brother & Sister). I could've done with a little less of that, but it also could've been the mood I'm in, haven't had as easy a time getting interested in stories lately, except new books in some of my favorite series, like Undying Mercenaries, for example. This book is more serious than that, not as much humor.

Some could be my frustration in it ending without having an ending. And it's frustrating when you hear simething in the olys catalog but then can't continue it because it's not available (as in this one) or it's too expensive to continue, like wanting a full credit for a 4-6 hr book. That's robbery in my opinion.

If your looking forca new sci fi seriesthough, this is a bargain as it's books 1-4 in 1 volume. I've listened to other titles by this author & they've all been pretty good. I'd give it a B+ and that's a job well done.
