About this listen
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by money—bewildered by the complexities of building wealth and frustrated by the persistent sense that no matter how much we earn, something crucial feels missing. But what if the key to financial freedom isn’t found in striving for more but in redefining what “enough” truly means? Financial growth expert Elizabeth Husserl’s The Power of Enough invites you to rethink your relationship with money, offering a groundbreaking blueprint that replaces chasing financial success with cultivating a life of meaning, balance, and fulfillment.
This transformative guide reveals how our attitudes toward money shape our well-being, illuminating the ways that financial systems block us from achieving true contentment. Elizabeth helps us embrace wealth as a way of being that is grounded in purpose and our core values rather than something to endlessly accumulate.
Through practical exercises, you’ll learn to:
• uncover your financial DNA, revealing the inherited beliefs, behaviors, and habits that shape your financial decisions
• create a wealth mandala to redefine your relationship with money
• design a life that honors your whole self, bringing vitality, purpose, and lasting joy
With The Power of Enough, you’ll have the tools to break free from the cycle of endless striving and create a life that’s truly rich—in every sense of the word.
“A powerfully transformative view of the role money plays in a life worth living.”—Jodi Wellman, author of You Only Die Once

Story
Have you ever found yourself wondering “Why do I want more than I have?” Michael Easter, author of The Comfort Crisis and one of the world’s leading experts on behavior change, shows that the problem isn’t you. The problem is your scarcity mindset, left over from our ancient ancestors. They had to constantly seek and consume to survive because vital survival tools like food, material goods, information, and power were scarce and hard to find. But with our modern ability to easily fulfill our ancient desire for more, our hardwired “scarcity brain” is now backfiring.

There’s a lot of noise out there about how to spend (and not spend) your hard-earned money. This is the empowering approach Jen Smith and Jill Sirianni, hosts of the Frugal Friends podcast, want you to take to improve your spending habits. They believe you can value anything (yes, anything!), whether that’s a daily latte, fancy dinners out, or vacations. But, despite what social media is saying, you don’t value everything.

“Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” This phrase, arguably Thomas Edison’s most famous quote, has been drilled into the minds of generations of Americans. A fairly straightforward iteration of the idea that innovation, discovery, and ingenuity are the result of drive and grit above all, it has also come to represent much darker myths: that hard work always leads to success and that achievement is the product of individuals and not communities.

Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now. In the end more of the important stuff gets done and the impact on results is profound.

the Joy of Enough
I started by reading the physical book, which is great for the exercises, but I’m so happy I also got it to listen to! Hearing the author voice her own words makes me feel more connected to the wisdom and guidance she imparts. I listen on my drive and then it lingers with me throughout my day. The message is both practical and spiritual.
What sets this book apart is how Husserl brings attention to the spiritual and somatic dimensions of money — rarely acknowledged in conventional wealth and finance conversations. In a world obsessed with rampant consumption and material wealth, hers is a much-needed voice, encouraging us to relate to money with intention and to redefine wealth through a lens of satiation and joy.
Two practices I’m grateful to adopt: 1) Holding actual conversations with money —which I’ve found incredibly revealing. And 2) Cultivating a sense of satiation and immense gratitude for all the sources of wealth in my life.
This work already feels consequential to my life, and I’m excited to continue integrating what I’m learning. I highly recommend this book + audiobook to anyone who wants to transform their relationship with money, and experience the freedom and joy of Enough!
