About this listen
From two time British Fantasy Award-winning author, Jen Williams, comes the epic conclusion to the Winnowing Flame trilogy. Exhilarating fantasy for fans of Robin Hobb.
All is chaos. All is confusion. The Jure'lia are weak, but the war is far from over.
Ebora was once a glorious city, defended by legendary warriors and celebrated in song. Now refugees from every corner of Sarn seek shelter within its crumbling walls, and the enemy that has poisoned their land won't lie dormant for long.
The deep-rooted connection that Tormalin, Noon and the scholar Vintage share with their Eboran war-beasts has kept them alive so far. But with Tor distracted, and his sister Hestillion hell-bent on bringing ruthless order to the next Jure'lia attack, the people of Sarn need all the help they can get.
Noon is no stranger to playing with fire and knows just where to recruit a new - and powerful - army. But even she underestimates the epic quest that is to come. It is a journey wrought with pain and sacrifice - a reckoning that will change the face of Sarn forever.
Join forces with the heroes of the Winnowing Flame Trilogy as they strive to silence the Jure'lia's poison song once and for all.

Aren has lived by the rules all his life. He's never questioned it; that's just the way things are. But then his father is executed for treason, and he and his best friend, Cade, are thrown into a prison mine, doomed to work until they drop. Unless they can somehow break free.... But what lies beyond the prison walls is more terrifying still. The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. Story
So many stories begin the same way: With a prophecy. A chosen one. And the inevitable quest to slay a villain, save the kingdom, and fulfill a grand destiny. But this is not that kind of story. It does begin with a prophecy: A child will rise to defeat the Eternal Khan, a cruel immortal god-king, and save the kingdom. And that prophecy did anoint a hero, Jian, raised since birth in luxury and splendor, and celebrated before he has won a single battle.

Satisfactory ending to a good book series
The book ends the story and thats nice. All the lose ends tied up well. Not a complex or deep story, but entertaining well enough. I do recommend to those who want to hear a straight forward fantasy book with good vs evil.
Given 90% of the characters are female, there should probably have been a female narrator in my opinion.

narrator pretty good but
The narrator had lots of voices but the voices of the War beasts and the queen were quite jarring - louder than other voices and quite gravely. It was irritating to be listening at normal volume and suddenly have the volume increase and this horrible voice come out of the speakers. It was not pleasant and an assualt on my eardrums, especially if I was listening to it at night or on earbuds .
after listening to the three long books on a row I am glad to have finished. good story but towards the end there's so much fighting it just was boring

It hurts so good
“You can let go now, little frog.”
Oh, my aching heart. This whole book puts you through the wringer.
The odds grow more and more bleak, until the final heroic push.
“There are roses growing in the most wild-touched places.”
It’s the losses that make the victories most sweet.
Family. Sacrifice. Hope. This ending brought it all.

Incredible world building and fantastic characters.
A refreshing new look at social constructs and the resulting conflicts and alliances had me captivated through the entire series.
The world created by the author was totally new and unique and was so elegantly crafted that I felt I was in their universe, and happily curious to be there. There so many twists and surprises the series kept me captivated and completely immersed.
The characters were totally relatable as well as surprising. Each character was given time and complexity that wove around my heart whether I loved them or hated them, and some characters I loved at times and hated at other times in the story. After listening to the series the first time, I missed the characters so much I decided to listen again right away.
One of my favorite listens in a long time!
