About the Author

Saneatsu Mushanokoji was an intellectual and aristocrat who studied at Tokyo's elite Peers' School. He founded the 'Shirakaba-ha' (White Birch) group, which included literary giants like Takeo Arashima and Naoya Shiga. In 1918, Mushanokoji founded Atarashiki-mura, a utopian village that still exists in Saitama, Japan, today.
