About this listen

The Fury of the Gods is the earth-shattering final book in John Gwynne's bestselling Norse-inspired epic fantasy series, packed with myth, magic and bloody vengeance.

The final battle for the fate of Vigrid approaches...

Varg has overcome the trials of his past and become an accepted member of the Bloodsworn, but now he and his newfound comrades face their biggest challenge yet: slaying a dragon.

Elvar is struggling to consolidate her power in Snakavik, where she faces threats from without and within. As she fights to assert her authority in readiness for the coming conflict, she faces a surely insurmountable task: reigning in the ferocity of a wolf god.

As Biórr and his warband make their way north, eager for blood, Guðvarr pursues a mission of his own, hoping to win Lik-Rifa’s favor and further his own ambitions.

All paths lead to Snakavik, where the lines are being drawn for the final battle—a titanic clash that will shake the foundations of the world and bear witness to the true fury of the gods.

What a Conslusion

what an absolute ride. There is practically zero slack. It picks up from book 2 as if It was trying to get the speed record. Usually the saying goes, the journey is more important than the destination, but in this case the destination is so worth it that it stands to stare it eye to eye. Truly a fantastic finale.

A Great End to A Story

What's not to like with this one? Vikings, magic, gods, big battles, overall a great end to a great trilogy.

It's a meat sandwich. A satisfying protein rich confection of fire and blood.

COMBAT! combat is the main ingredient. the meat. seasoned well with a liberal dash of emotion. violently squashed between two brioche buns of consistent and intricate world building. liberally slathered in a sweet yet spicy sauce of mysticism and lore. delicious, but a bit much.

great narrator, good characters, so much death. the phrase "in a spray of blood and teeth" was used no less than 12 times throughout the series. it seemed like the solution to most problems in this story was to cut and stab more and better. maybe accurate to the world but it was a rough world. not for everyone.

What if it were all true?

All the magic, all the monsters, all the gods...I love the cadence of the story, the style is not like any other book I've read. Colin Mace is a masterful performer!
