About this listen
Nine Years after, the first of this series was selected by Amazon Kindle Reader's in 2023
It was also named a "Book to read" by Amazon editors
Things are getting expensive and jobs scarce. Riots are becoming commonplace, and the number of other crimes escalates daily. Rafe decides Seattle and the repressive new laws the government passes is not a place for him. He has a location in mind. However, leaving isn't simple. He has no money, nothing of value to sell, and there is no more public transportation.
Rafe is clever, determined, and sometimes lucky. He also has memories of growing up in a remote cabin in the Cascade mountains where he hunted and fished. Fending for himself might be better that remaining in a dying city and starving or being killed by one of the newly organized street gangs. He made plans to leave. His only problem was wondering if they were good plans, or not.

Retired Army Captain James “Hunter” Seaton always knew society was hanging by a thread—just nine missed meals from anarchy—but even he wasn’t prepared for how fast everything would unravel. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop student with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.
