About this listen
Monitor lizard, Horace Avraham, has always steered his best friend and boss in the right direction. Only this time, the pit bull is ignoring his advice.
Victor Lenox is a cheerfully corrupt ward-heeler who aspires to something better: the daughter of Senator Jared Wilson Vale, the heiress to a dynasty of political purebred Dalmatians. Does he want her badly enough to commit murder? And if Lenox is innocent, which of his dozens of enemies is doing an awfully good job of framing him?
Can Avraham solve the puzzle in time, or will the next stop be the gas chamber?

Story
When private investigator Simon Wolfe is hired to follow his friend’s wife under suspicion of adultery, he could never have guessed it would lead him into a friendship with the world’s leading writer, Ernest Hemingway. Nor could he have predicted the strange and disturbing twists the investigation would take. The case accelerates quickly when the wife is found murdered in a Key West hotel and discovered to have a secret life. But that revelation is downright boring as the plot thickens with increasingly bizarre revelations, capped off with a macabre ending no one saw coming.

Today, a lovely and confident Dr. Jane Lewis has a thriving psychotherapy practice, her own radio talk show, a beautiful old Louisiana mansion, and her affectionate, nutty dog, Olive, to keep her company. It's a city within a city, a rich melange of smells, sounds, dark shops, and close-knit families - a world all its own. And in all of Chinatown, there is no one like Lydia, who has a nose for trouble, a disapproving Chinese mother, and a partner named Bill Smith who's been living above a bar for 16 years. Hired to find some precious stolen porcelain, Lydia follows a trail of clues from highbrow art dealers into a world of Chinese gangs.

politics and corruption
The lizard goes to great lengths to wade through
lies and partial truths to get to the bottom of a nasty situation. He takes a licking and still hangs in there to the end. You have to admire his tenacity. I enjoyed the journey. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.
