About this listen
Meet Blakey, Finley, and Geoff: a trio of 70-something mates who prove age is just a number when it comes to mischief. When 74-year-old Blakey survives a near-death scare on his allotment, he’s done with playing it safe. Dreaming of his wild youth, he tracks down his old mate ‘Captain’ Finley John, only to find a bitter widower drowning in debt. With their allotment buddy Geoff in tow, the trio hatches a plan to fix Finley’s woes: a bank heist straight out of a TV crime show. What could go wrong? Everything, hilariously.
Why You’ll Love It:
Rave Amazon reviews call it “rude, crude, and brilliant”!
Perfect for fans of classic British comedy.
First in a trilogy — Books 2 & 3 (The Joke That Killed & Double Up or Quit) are out now!
Plot:
When 74-year-old northerner, Blakey, has a near-death experience on his allotment, he feels reborn. Looking at his life through a new lens, he grows misty-eyed for his youth and decides to reconnect with his old school friend, 'Captain' Finley John.
However, when Blakey tracks down Finley, Blakey finds that he's not the dashing, charismatic man from Blakey's youth. He's a widower, whose debt problems have made him a bitter recluse.
So Blakey recruits his allotment friend, Geoff, to help get Finley back on his feet, but they can only think of one way to solve Finley’s money problems – a good old-fashioned bank robbery. After all, they've seen them done a million times on TV. How hard can it be?
The Boomer Crew is the flip side of The Thursday Murder Club coin, where instead of solving crimes a bunch of pensioners attempt to commit them, but ultimately (and humorously) fail. It's a light-hearted cozy crime caper. Come and meet the Boomer Crew boys for yourself in this hilarious twist on cozy crime.
