About this listen
From the USA Today best-selling author of Dragon School comes the first novel in a vibrant, intricate fantasy world filled with unexpected adventure.
Legends used to walk the Dragonblood Plains - great heroes now dead who left bloody scars across the face of the world. They are waking.
For Tamerlan - an alchemist’s apprentice, sold to the guild in his teens - the only thing that matters is his desperate quest to save his sister from being sacrificed to the dragon at the height of the Summernight festival.
For Marielle - a Scenter for the Jingen City Watch who can read spiritual residues - all that matters is serving justice to protect her city.
But when Tamerlan stumbles upon an ancient magic that calls the Legends forth, and Marielle scents what he’s done and starts her pursuit, they begin a chain of events that can’t be stopped - a chain that will wake the Legends, call the dragons, and change everything.
Summernight is book one of the Bridge of Legends series. Leap into this gripping fantasy story of dragons, legends, and misused power, that fans are calling "addictive" and “spellbinding”.

The only thing that 17-year-old Aella ever wanted was to keep raising horses with her sprawling family on the frontier of the Winged Empire. But when the Winged Empire tests for magic, they’re looking for spirit-birds and Aella doesn’t manifest a spirit-bird - she manifests bees. An angry swarm of bees to be precise. Furious at her aberration, the empire snatches her from her home, ransacks her town, and draws her into a world that she hates to her very core. Lonely and unwilling to join the yearly Midsummer Revel to find a mate, Basil takes the advice of his talking horse companion and decides to steal a human bride instead. But Basil never expected to find a human girl waiting for him, wanting to be snatched. Nor had he expected a girl like Meg, an illiterate farmgirl who has no use for books. Story
No one told her the most important law of the court - the law of greeting. If they had, maybe she wouldn't have greeted Bluebeard when he arrived to claim a mortal wife. And if she hadn't greeted him, she wouldn't have become his 16th wife or been swept away to the lands of the Wittenhame. But if none of that had happened, then she wouldn't have been an integral part of the game that takes place every 200 years - a game that determines the fates of nations.

Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Good for first time
As far as I know, this is the first audio book that these guys do. And therefore there are some minor problems. The largest being that the inflection is sometimes on the wrong word and pauses is at the wrong places. Other than that: good job! (Came here from the WoT Spoiler podcast)

Narrative passionless
The story was okay although I think the hero is an idiot. The narration led to my not finishing the book. It is colorless and had no passion. There wasn’t much of a distinction in voices. This was just somebody reading a book. Guess I’ve been spoiled by the Stormlight Archive narrators. Just FYI this is a 5 book series and this is the only audible title.

What an adventure!
I got to listen to this at the courtesy of the author in exchange for a review, it was stupendous.
This is a story of epic proportions. I loved the world building, which felt fantastical, original, and yet somehow wove in elements that were really familiar to ground the reader within it. I loved the characters, especially Jhinn, he was utterly delightful. I can’t get enough of supporting characters who really drive a story forward.
I really enjoyed the originality in Marielle’s character: that she can’t see color, but can smell it in the emotions and actions that swirl about her. It’s a very artistic approach to things that makes the world that much more vivid and enthralling.
And those final chapters? Yikes! That was an incredible ride. Written so well that it felt like I was experiencing it first hand.
Totally worth the time to read (or listen to).
The narration was a little dry for my personal taste, but I will gladly listen to this again and again. It was certainly well produced, and well performed, (just personal preference).

Who's side are you on?
The author did an amazing job making two characters you want to root for and you want the best for yet they are on opposite sides working against each other. Which one do you want to succeed? If one succeeds does the other fail? Which goal do you want more? These characters make you wonder that, One moment you root for one then the next you root for the other and it makes it hard. The first thing that caught me was the cover and I needed to know more about the characters on it. I am happy this cover caught me since I loved this story. The magic system was well thought out and I enjoyed learning about how it worked. It was a very unique take on magic and how it worked along with what it could do. I can't wait to see where else this story goes it was something I loved!

Hard to get into the story
I had a hard time getting into the story. I can usually get through a book, but had to force myself to listen when I did. There was just something about it I could not connect with. I had no interest in the characters or there success.

Falls flat
I always hate to leave unfavorable comments on any book I read or listen to. This story seemed to have potential to be pretty interesting. I can’t quite put my finger on if it was the narrator or the story, but overall, it just fell flat for me. I never developed any interest in any of the characters, they had no real personality to them. The premise isn’t a new one, really. Small village sacrificing someone to a protector figure to maintain peace in the village, in this case a dormant dragon, and someone who doesn’t want the chosen sacrifice to be killed. That said, I’ve enjoyed other stories with this premise immensely. I also found the idea of the village watch being staffed by people who could smell emotions and intentions very intriguing. Unfortunately, it just never really grabbed me as a solid concept. Even as the action ramped up, it just never held that level of intensity that it should have. That, I can say, was likely due to the narration, which overall fell flat. Not a lot of emotional variance, and the distinction between characters was virtually nonexistent. Overall, just a disappointing outcome.
I received this audiobook free in exchange for my fair and honest review.

So Good!
I loved the storyline and the rich uniqueness of characters and the world that Sarah K.L. Wilson has created! It was a darker fantasy than what I had expected, but it still sucked me in and kept me fully captivated. The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the narrator. I felt like if his voice had more inflection as he narrated, it would've made it easier for me to be that much more into the book. But I still really enjoyed the book!

Enjoyable Read
While I did enjoy this audiobook and the story line of the story which had me captivated, I was not 100% impressed with the narrator. There were parts where his voice nearly cut out and it was hard to follow along sometimes, but overall I recommend the book.
