 Summer is a time of discovery for all at the Anderson house. Patrick's brother, Pal comes to stay with a neighbor down the street. Pal proves that he is everything that Patrick isn't. Joe's family enrolls Patrick in obedience school, giving Joe an opportunity to work with the wayward setter, even as Pal shines with his own mastery of the trainer' s commands.
