Youth’s Journey of Growth
The ending gestures and combined farewells of former-Path follower, Fel Ix and Jedi Padawan, Rooper Nitani was a perfect send-off.

A really excellent short story!
Great character arcs throughout, fun action, and an excellent side quest attached to the main High Republic series.

Amazing!!
I’ve loved phase 2 so much and this is an excellent middle grade addition to The High Republic. More Rooper is always great, and Sky Graf is one of my favorite characters now!

A fun & wild romp
This was a great follow up to the first middle grade novel in Phase 2, while also tying in the events of the adult novels. I love that the book shows kids facing tough choices and learning to work together, especially with others that have different views. Rooper is such a great Jedi and reminds me a lot of Vernestra Rowh. Another thing I loved about this book was turn diversity among the characters. Representation is so important, especially for kids to see, and it only adds more richness to the story, characters, and Star Wars universe.

Mostly great
Tessa Gratton delivered one of the stronger junior novels in the High Republic initiative so far. It just doesn't stand on it's own like it should, considering the target audience. I was surprised by how much it heavily tied into the YA and Adult novels by the end, making those books necessary reading, which is unusual. That said, as someone who's read them all, it was a fantastic character driven story, that really delivered on themes of family, compromise, and faith.

Cute story, if a bit unfinished
Probably the best of the YA novels in the High Republic series so far, but really only a single event ended up impacting the rest of the Galaxy’s goings-on.
Characters were likable and mostly identifiable, and I would be happy to read/listen to more with the same cast.

Solid YA story for Phase II of the High Republic.
A good side story to the greater Phase II arc. It does a good job of filling in some gaps of the Battle of Dalna. Great narration as usual. A solid YA story.

Rooper is cool
I think I like the way George Mann writes rooper more than Tessa, but I still enjoyed her in this. As far as mid grade protagonists go, I prefer rooper to Vern and Ram.
