About this listen

This suspenseful, action-filled novel has many surprising twists and turns as the forces of good and evil go head-to-head against each other. Andrew Preston is a criminal with an extraordinary gift. He has tremendous telepathic powers and can “mindjack" almost anyone. Upon finding out about Andrew’s abilities, the National Security Agency seeks Andrew’s help. The NSA’s newly-formed psi-ops unit is trying to stop some terrorist telepaths who work for Al-Qaida. Because the NSA telepaths are being overmatched and overwhelmed by these enemy telepaths, Emma O’Connor (an NSA agent) reluctantly invites Andrew to join the NSA psi-ops team. Emma, Andrew, and the rest of the psi-ops team wage a war against mysterious enemies. ********************* Excerpt: “The Jinn wanted to destroy you because they feared you, but they nevertheless underestimated you.” “I’m awesome.” I grinned. “And as humble as always.” “I’m just kidding. You’re the only awesome person in this room, Emma.” “Thank you, Andrew. Actually you’re pretty awesome, too, but I want you to be modest about your awesomeness.” I laughed. “Okay.” “You seem to me to be a better man than you were a week ago,” Emma said. “I have become more than I was, but I still feel that I can become more than I am.” “What do you mean?” she asked. “I had a transcendent experience earlier this evening. About two hours ago, I felt a great fountain of power out there. It seemed so close, yet I couldn’t quite reach it.” “What was this fountain of power?” “I’m not sure. Actually, I was hoping that you could tell me.” “Sorry, I can’t help you there. However, it sounds intriguing. This is definitely an area that we will have to explore.” “The power seemed familiar, yet was so far beyond me that it was incomprehensible to me.” “Viva the mysteries,” she said. “Indeed. Mystery after mystery. Adventure after adventure.” “I can’t even begin to estimate your potential. You astound me.” “You probably have just as much potential as I do -- perhaps more.” “Thanks,” Emma said. “I suppose we’ll see. The next time you feel that fountain of power, please link with me.” “I will, of course. It’s hard to say when that will happen again. I tried just now and several times earlier today, but I didn’t have any luck. When it happened earlier this evening, I was sitting out on my balcony doing a bit of stargazing. Suddenly, I felt the presence of another mind. To tell you the truth, at first I thought that it was you. There was a peacefulness and pleasantness that reminded me of you. However, even though you are powerful, this power was to you like the ocean is to a lovely mountain stream.” “Well, I’m glad that I’m a lovely mountain stream anyway.” “You are the loveliest of mountain streams,” I said. “If I were a trout, you would be the stream to which I would head.” “Thank you, I suppose, for that unusual compliment.” “I’m an unusual guy,” I said. “No one could argue with that statement.” Because we were both tired, Emma kept her visit brief. After we told each other goodnight, she returned to her own apartment a short distance down the road. **************** Joseph Rogers has other writings that include: Travelers of Time The Chronicles of Caroline Casey Wanderers of Worlds Hallowed Eve, Hallowed Day: a supernatural suspense story Realm of Haden: A Space-Age Fantasy Maiden of Orleans: A Bayou Thriller The Snow Maiden: A Suspense Thriller Moonlight Warriors: A Tale of Two Hit Men The Powers Unseen: A Supernatural Thriller Child of Wonder: a modern Christmas drama Tobias, a Traveler Garden Sanctuary My Friend’s Obsession The Sword of St. Louis: a romantic drama Who Said It?: a whodunnit A Stranger in the Night Essential Things Wally the Wacky Wizard A Princess and her Five Suitors Sprite of the Light The Mysterious Gift A Magical, Mystical Christmas Mystery Espionage Genre Fiction Metaphysical & Visionary Spies & Politics Thriller & Suspense Exciting
