About this listen

'No one does funny, emotional, life-affirming love stories quite like Abby Jimenez. She just keeps outdoing herself' EMILY HENRY

.........................

The perfect guy. The perfect date. Utterly disastrous timing.

There might be no such thing as the perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes - all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediately yes. That is until he opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. But there's nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong . . .

. . . unless he can admit he made a mistake. But after one incredible date - possibly the best in living history - Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that any kind of relationship would be impossible. Samantha begs Xavier to forget her. To remember their night together as a perfect moment, as crushing as that may be.

Only no amount of distance or time is nearly enough to forget that something between them. And the only thing better than one perfect memory is to make a life - and even a love - worth remembering

Emotional depth and pure bliss

First of all, the narrators were brilliant. They suited the characters to perfection. It was beautifully written, real people with humility , humor and struggling through the complicated life we sometimes found ourselves in. A love story that is inspirational and you feel every emotion with them. I don’t know how to get over this read. The analogy of the egg is somethingI will think about for a while. I would also like to know what happened to the EarPod

Relatable

When I see a new Abby Jimenez book appear in audible, I don't think, I buy it. This time, I didn't even bother reading the description, so I have no-one but myself to blame, when it turned the story revolves around a parent with dementia. It hit a little close to home, and for a few seconds, I thought, maybe I should skip this one, or postpone listening to it. Then I figured, there is no-one who can write about difficult situations with the kind of respect, love and humour they require, like Abby Jimenez. I am so glad I didn't skip this.

I don't live with my parents, but I live very close, and I can recognize being torn between wanting to be there for a loved one and wanting to be there for myself and my own life, too. This book puts that feeling into words perfectly, without ever losing the heart. And still, there is a happy ending.

One of the things I liked about this book was that it didn't avoid the difficult parts. There are millions of books where the conflicts preventing a couple from being together just disappear at first kiss. Not in this book. There is, undoubtedly, love, but there is also a pile of very real obsticles. This book doesn't end at the I love you, instead, it shows that I love you isn't always enough, but it also kinda is everything.

This book was funny, romantic, bittersweet, heartwarming, beautifully written, and had loads of animals. The narration was enjoyable. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
