About this listen
Alone at the beach without her crew to guide her or offer opinions, Sam digs deep within herself, back through her own life in her own journal, discovering parallels that just might help solve Sindia’s mystery. “Peggy’s writing in this one definitely centralizes around the theme of mental illness, trauma, and PTSD from the very start and I loved how she focused on these themes as it painted a more vivid picture of how Sam’s past has undoubtedly produced a long-lasting/permanent psychological impact on Sam’s character overall, making it very relatable.”
What was supposed to be a relaxing get away, soon turns into a mystery in the form of Sindia—a shipwrecked ship just of the coast of New Jersey, close to where Sam is renting an oceanfront beach house on the boardwalk. “We see another side of Sam, as the author intermingles memories of Sam’s past and childhood, giving the reader a more in-depth look at the character.”
But in no time she is dragged solo into a mystery after meeting a young woman named Sindia and uncovers a shocking past of murdered parents, and death threats. “Edelheit’s writing style fascinates: phrass like ‘a conversational leapfrog,’ ‘verbal chess game’...and ... ‘verbally dancing with precision’ makes lively and wise reading.”
Eventually, Sam realizes Sindia’s scars weren’t from an ocean threat, but something much more dangerous, human. “With the strangeness of it all, I simply could not put the book down. I anxiously awaited each page turn as the suspense built throughout the book.”
“This story is fast-paced, with a strong plot, yet the author manages to convey a deeper sense to Sam, a more reflective nature to the lead character, which truly sets this book apart from the others in the series.”
