Story
When you read about someone sailing around the world, it’s usually a dotcom millionaire or a professional adventurer. Brave or Stupid? tells a very different story. It’s an everyman tale about a middle-aged, seasick electrician with no money who suddenly and for no reason decides to sail around the world. It’s the story of Yanne Larsson, a man with a dream born not out of a passion for sailing or a search for identity or the need for a challenge. This is the story of a simple handshake. One of the old-fashioned, ironclad ones.

Patrick Dixon spent years working as a doctor at University College Hospital, while his wife, Sheila, was a magistrate - high-pressure careers that demanded long hours away from their home, family and passion for sailing. It is a frustrating story many occasional sailors can relate to, but unlike most, Patrick and Sheila realised early enough that they could only bend so far before something snapped; they could only take on so much before they drowned.

Tania Aebi was an unambitious 18-year-old, a bicycle messenger in New York City by day, a Lower East Side barfly at night. In short, she was going nowhere - until her father offered her a challenge: Tania could choose either a college education or a 26-foot sloop. The only catch was that if she chose the sailboat, she'd have to sail around the world - alone. She chose the boat, and for the next two and a half years and 27,000 miles, it was her home.

I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Amazing stories of life on the water!
As a person who loves to travel, loves adventure and is always curious about different avenues to fulfill those desires, sailing has always intrigued me.
Anytime I see someone out on a sailboat, whether in person or in a move, the thoughts are always "how difficult is it to learn that?" and "do you have to be born into that lifestyle?"
The stories Jim lays out really entertain all thoughts and ideas I've ever had about sailing. The stories are all fun and entertaining, mixed with some subtle education, but I really enjoyed the story about his experience going through the Caledonian Canal.

Great sailing memoir
I live on an island, and I love talking to people about sailing. I'm particularly interested in yachts, and the author goes into some detail about them. This audiobook satisfies on so many levels. Following the author's search to find a suitable boat to sailing across the open ocean was captivating. If you like ocean adventure, then this audiobook is for you.

Stirring and Inspiring Account
Bought this as I recently took up an interest in sailing, and while I don't yet have a boat, wanted to see someone else's path towards the pursuit. Sail With Jim is a thoughtful and inspiring chronicle of the author's journey towards his passion. The book details the swings of his sentiment towards sailing, which as he gets older only becomes clearer the degree of his passion for the pursuit. It explores some of the challenges and mistakes he encountered, which only made the ultimate realization of his dream that much more fulfilling.
The narrator speaks clearly and engagingly, which keeps the listener engaged and emotionally connected to the content.
I can definitely say that the story of his journey has inspired my own, and plan to take up a hobby of learning to sail, and eventually buying my own boat when the time is right. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who is a fan of sailing, or considering to get into the past time.

Fun encounter with Jim!
This was definitely an interesting audiobook, very much unlike what I usually listen to. However, I enjoyed it thoroughly. It felt like I was having a chat with a friendly stranger who ended up telling me all about his life’s adventures. If only for a fun, entertaining story, Sail with Jim will not disappoint; and if you are really into sailing, this one’s a must!

Like an encyclopedia on sailing
I really enjoyed this book. After listening to it, I feel like I now know what it's like to not only own a yacht but what it's like to sail one. I could feel the spray in my face, the chill of the water, and the slap of the sail as it came about. Performance was good, at times a little slow for me, but the voice was very melodic and enjoyable to listen to.
