The Next Port is the true story of how a midlife crisis led to an around the world sailing adventure.
Come aboard with Heyward and Charlotte as they transform a worn-out hull into a first-class blue water cruiser. Then take off and cross oceans with them, feeling their desperation when equipment failures force ingenious workarounds in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Share the highs of navigating the crystal waters of French Polynesia and the lows of crossing pirate-infested waters in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden. Travel ashore with them to places not covered in travel brochures, meet natives untouched by the modern world, and navigate the political waters of Guantanamo Bay. Armchair adventurers, experienced sailors, and anyone with a zest for life will find inspiration and humor traveling from one exotic place to the next, excited about The Next Port.
Grab your atlas as you explore far flung places like:
- Guantanamo Bay
- Alta de Chao, 800 miles up the Amazon River

I’m not sure who Timothy G Little is, or where Heyward Coleman found him, but this guy is the worst. Aside from absolutely destroying the name of literally every place they went, it seems at times like he just learned to read right before getting on the microphone. Coleman must’ve owed this guy a favor or something.
Otherwise the book is a wonderful account of bucket list locations, and compelling as heck. Sadly you’ll have to suffer through awful narration to hear it.
Well written compelling story. Awful narrator.

The narration was really good. All the French words have been badly butchered, but it’s still a solid five star as we can’t ask for everything to be perfect.
The perfect balance

Unfortunately, the narrator’s ability to authentically speak phrases in foreign languages and use of foreign accents was dismal.
Overall an illuminating, adventure packed fast moving story.
Compelling around the world sailing saga
