About this listen
From the creator of top career YouTube channel Self Made Millennial, the only job search guide you’ll need to get employers competing for you
Are you tired of sending out dozens of job applications every day and never hearing back? Or, when you do land interviews, not getting an offer, and never knowing why? As a former recruiter and head of HR at multiple companies, Madeline Mann has seen every kind of job application under the sun, and she’s here to tell you that the antiquated job search advice you’ve been told before is all wrong.
After years of working in HR, Mann began to share her behind-the-scenes insight into the world of hiring, creating viral career tip videos and posts online—and soon amassing nearly 1 million followers across YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok. In Reverse the Search, Mann distills her juiciest advice into a concise guide on how to turn the job search around, going from job seeking to job shopping—from desperately sending out applications to having your pick of jobs. Too often our inner critic fabricates stories that undervalue our capabilities or make us question where we're going and why. The things we keep telling ourselves eventually start to feel true and even inevitable—as if we're destined to live within the confines of that story for the rest of our lives. Sought-after speaker and executive coach Chad Sanschagrin teaches that "you find what you focus on," and he's shown millions in search of a better life how to write a better story by focusing on who they want to become instead of what they want to achieve.

We’re in the middle of the most significant transformation in work in over a century. Whether it’s remote work, the rise of burnout and “quiet quitting,” or the changing values and priorities of employees, leading an organization has never been more complex. In Meaningful Work, Wes Adams and Tamara Myles leverage the science of positive psychology to show leaders why and how to make meaning the cornerstone of leadership practice.

We’ve been taught that resilience is the secret to navigating life’s most difficult moments. According to New York Times bestselling author and organizational psychologist Dr. Tasha Eurich, there is just one problem with this assumption. Scientifically, resilience isn’t an unlimited resource, especially with the growing pressure, uncertainty, and chaos we’re experiencing today. But what if, instead of merely “bouncing back” from stressors and setbacks, we could harness them for forward growth?

To convey her conclusions, she turned to the aphorism—the ancient literary discipline that demands that a writer convey a large truth in a few words.

Life isn’t linear, and yet we try to mold it around linear goals: four-year college degrees, ten-year career plans, thirty-year mortgages. What if instead we approached life as a giant playground for experimentation? Based on ancestral philosophy and the latest scientific research, Tiny Experiments provides a desperately needed reframing: Uncertainty can be a state of expanded possibility and a space for metamorphosis. Neuroscientist and entrepreneur Anne-Laure Le Cunff reveals that all you need is an experimental mindset to turn challenges into self-discovery and doubt into opportunity.

So Far.. So Excellent!
I came across this book through a LinkedIn post that showed up on my feed, and I instantly knew it was something I needed to check out.
Right from the start, I felt like the author was describing me—I’m exactly the person the author describes who has embraced the 5 myths mentioned in the beginning of the book. But I’m also the person who’s ready to apply her insights and advice, and I’m confident it will positively shape my job search journey.
I really love the concept of this book. I’m only three chapters in, but it’s already clear that it’s a powerful resource. I’ve gained so much insight in such a short time, and I’m excited to keep learning from it. Time to do the work outlined in the book and trust the process!
