About this listen

"A trenchant darkness reminiscent of Poe and Lovecraft." ~ Kirkus Reviews "A killer Victorian Horror in classic style that treads on new ground." ~ The Daily Read (Book trailer link below or type "Revenge of the Wolf book trailer" on YouTube) Police Commissioner Morton Howe's occupation brings all types in London, England and his precinct handles anything, but in 1841 at age 42, things turn out to be much different. A gruesome triple murder at a farmhouse in a neighboring borough by some monstrous diabolical beast sets off a chain-reaction that ultimately threatens his very life. One by one, Commissioner Howe is witness to crime scenes of murder wherein the victims are persons he is secretly tied to as if the killer is working his way down Howe's own most private list. No one else suspects that he greatly fears that whoever or whatever is responsible will be coming for him. Cecil Griffiths, a newcomer living on the outskirts of London, finds work at a farming estate, but his entrance into that part of England that year is heralded with destruction. By what seems like a chance encounter, Cecil is befriended by Davey, a twelve year old boy who passes his place of solitude after work on his way home each evening. Over time, Davey begins to see Cecil as a father figure and unintentionally unravels his darkest secrets. A black wolf, the subject of a university scientist's experimentations, bites the hand that feeds him and the new carrier of his sickness crosses Cecil's path with reckless disregard for all life. As men turn up dead across England, most by what appears to be unremarkable in nature and causing no suspicion, the strangling grip becomes tighter around Commissioner Howe's neck. As Morton nears to closing the trap on the greatest adversary he has ever known, Cecil's love for Davey makes it more and more difficult to continue with his own merciless plans. During the worst storm to hit England in half a century, the wolf comes for the final player in his plot of retribution and Davey finds himself caught in the middle of it. Six men, who seem unrelated, living completely different lives uninterrupted, will be visited by callous revenge in the form of a terrifying creature in the dark. - Revenge of the Wolf is a nightmare of one man's struggle to forgive and to be forgiven when hatred is given unrestrained and unquenchable power.
