About this listen

Following the immense success of Volume I with over 35,000 copies sold, On Writing and Worldbuilding: Volume II brings a host of new topics to table in even more detail and depth. Writing advice tends to be full of "rules" and "tips" which are either too broad to be helpful or outright wrong.

Aimed at specific, applicable, and practical discussions, from writing fight scenes to first-person narration to hard and soft worldbuilding, Volume II is a "must have".

The second book in the series and I feel like it somehow has more information than the first

he can't keep getting away with this

Ok, so once again - you have hit it out of the park with this book! There were some very valuable pieces of advice that I’m going to incorporate into my own Worldbuilding. Thank you!

>However, I was disappointed by the mentions of that TERF-scum JK Rowling again. Did she put you up to this somehow? Her children’s book about magic elementary school is derivative, lazy and layered with steaming, racist tripe. Also, she is a gross, petty, slimy little person who is so concerned about other peoples genitals that she made it her whole personality.

Since she’s going to be forgotten by time, because her bigotry isnt a remarkable enough trait to make her noteworthy, I think you should definitely not talk about her if you ever make Vol III of this.

EDIT: oh nice! Just discovered there is a part 3! Sweet. I’m going to go give a listen to the sample just to make sure you came to your senses and didn’t include anything about that hack JK Rowling.

As long as there’s no mention of JK Rowling, I’m definitely going to pick up Vol 3!!

Incredible!! Vol II is so good!! Amazing!

I finished the first book as fast as I could, and this one was much of the same! So many new things to think through. I'm also working on writing my own story now, using so many of these tips.

Another incredible layer

The segments on fight scenes were exactly what I needed! Had a little trouble keeping my attention through how culture and cities come to be portions, but there were still useful bits in there. Everything else was excellent! Definitely will move into the third book. Thanks, Hickson and team!

Excellent, Understandable, Applicable

There are a number of weird audio cuts where the mixing changes in the audio book itself, but this book has given me a number of important ideas for my own writing.

Good, useful book; performance could be better.

it's all good, insightful advice and whatnot, but it's more for specific world building issues in specific stories than advice that can be used for virtually any story. I think that's pretty awesome though, because we have PLENTY of general writing advice books and now I have a singular source to return to when I want to tackle something covered in this book.

good, but more specific advice
