 Tyrel Henson is ecstatic when he learns his Uncle Jack wants to turn ownership of his thousand-acre ranch over to him. It was everything he had ever dreamed of. However, when he arrived at the site in the San Luis Valley, in southern Colorado, the ranch was gone! In fact, there was no evidence a ranch even existed; and his uncle was not to be found. Ty is determined to unravel the mystery but is opposed on every side. A neighboring ranch is only hostile and uncooperative. Other neighbors, a family of German farmers is friendly enough, but is withholding a secret they cannot share out of fear for their lives. In addition, the cliffs above the ranch site seem to be haunted, emitting eerie sounds at night. The nearby Medano Creek also seems to hold some mysterious secrets. Many of the locals even believe it to be haunted. To complicate matters, Ty falls in love with the beautiful daughter of the hostile rancher.
