About this listen

The breakout romantasy sensation by Rachel Schneider that has taken the internet by storm—bursting with suspense, romance, and breathtaking twists, this heart-stopping debut also includes a bonus scene from the highly anticipated sequel, Light Wielder.

Even though she's not one of them, Brynn has spent her life among the Alaha, training to be a guard and waiting for the chance to attend the annual market hosted by the Kenta—the very same people who exiled her adopted community to a life at sea. Going to the market is a rite of passage eagerly anticipated by all young guards, but Brynn does not anticipate breaking a century-long peace treaty while there. Nor does she plan for the intense encounter with an enemy soldier that now threatens to unwind the fragile coexistence between their people—and everything Brynn once believed about herself to be true.

Brynn's loyalty to the Alaha is tested when the truth of her identity is brought to light by this soldier who's taken an oath to bring her back to where she belongs. Narrowly escaping death on the violent high seas, Brynn's connection to the Alaha is further tested when she learns about the world of magic she's been denied. She was once certain of her fate and where she belonged, but the dark, knowing eyes of this stranger have her questioning everything, including her heart.

Packed with knife fights and seafaring adventure, Metal Slinger is the smash-hit start to the romantic fantasy duology, the Fire & Metal series.

This book caught me off guard and left me reeling. The story building was great. The FMC is powerful and fierce. The books hits all my romantasy expectations, but the pacing is slow. I give it 4 stars because the plot twist is confusing. I will definitely be reading book 2.

Completely worth that credit. Don’t spoil it for yourself and go into it blind. Great romantasy.

Go into this one blind and you won’t regret it!! Holy Grial level romantasy!

Loved the original fantasy world very different but not overly complicated. It was easy to understand the different territories and can’t wait to see what happens next

Wowwww what a freakin shake up! Totally makes sense based on her experience but heart breaking I need the second book now

This is such a fun read! Easy to get lost in! I found myself doing extra chores just so I could listen longer 😂 If I could sum this up in one sentence, it would be this...

It's The Bridge Kingdom in reverse.

The characters are flawed but intriguing. The world building was a little confusing in the beginning. I'm not sure how they were growing trees on a boat (I think that's what was happening). But once they hit land, it all made more sense. I really, really enjoyed this and can't wait for the next book!

A fun, easy read that's hard to pause

I don’t know where to go from here. How do I move on after that ending????? This book was so good! I had seen other people post about a plot twist, but I’ve carefully stayed away from details. So, I found myself having anxiety while reading waiting for the plot twist to come. And let me tell you, it’s shocking. Not once did I suspect it to turn out that way. I highly recommend this book for all Romantasy lovers!

The narration was absolutely fantastic! I am always captivated by a narrator who can bring such a variety of characters to life!

I found myself hesitating to finish because I didn’t want it to end, yet I was eager to see how it concluded. What a delightful dilemma, right? Haha! I will be patiently awaiting the release of book two. Rachel Schneider is a new author for me, and I will definitely be exploring her other works.

Her storytelling ability truly shines in “Metal Slinger.” The characters are richly developed, and their journeys are both thrilling and heartfelt. Andi Eloise's performance adds an additional layer of magic, making the listening experience truly immersive. If you haven't checked out this book yet, I wholeheartedly recommend it!!!

Happy Reading

I saw briefly in other reviews that their was one but it slapped me in the face and I haven’t recovered. This book did not disappoint. Loved the slow burn. The world building was amazing. I’m still devastated and can’t really think about anything else

Ummmmmm I FORGOT about the plot twist

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 – “A Fiery Ride Through Betrayal, Chaos, and Cliffhangers!”

Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider completely shredded my soul like a power chord in a thunderstorm. I went in expecting action and badassery—I got that, sure—but I was not prepared to be emotionally mugged in Chapter 56 and left dangling on a cliffhanger so sharp, it should come with a warning label.

The betrayals? Ruthless. The character arcs? Chef’s kiss diabolical. The pacing? Like being dragged behind a flaming motorcycle through a hurricane of plot twists. Schneider crafts a world that’s all blade and spark, and just when you think you’re safe—BAM. Emotional ambush.

I laughed. I screamed. I may have thrown my book across the room and then crawled across the floor to keep reading. My boyfriend had to stage an intervention. No, I don’t know when Light Wielder comes out. Yes, I’m suffering. Dramatically.

I only knocked off half a star because I physically cannot deal with this wait. I’m in literary limbo. Rachel, if you’re reading this: I love you, but also, HOW COULD YOU. 🙈😭☠️

It’s a unique fantasy story
