About this listen
Contains the complete Mars trilogy.
Book 1
NASA finally made it. The very first human has just set foot on the surface of our neighbor planet. This is the start of a long research expedition that sent four scientists into space. But the four astronauts of the NASA crew are not the only ones with this destination. The privately financed "Mars for Everyone" initiative has also targeted the Red Planet. Twenty men and women have been selected to live there and establish the first extraterrestrial settlement.
No one anticipates the impending catastrophe that threatens their very existence, not to mention the daily hurdles that an extended stay on an alien planet sets before them. On Mars, a struggle begins for limited resources, human cooperation, and just plain survival.
Book 2
A woman presumed dead fights her way through the hostile deserts of Mars. With her help, the NASA astronauts orphaned on the Red Planet hope to be able to solve their very worst problem. But their hopes are shattered when an unexpected menace arises and threatens to destroy everything the remnant of humanity has built on the planet. They need a miracle - or a ghost from the past whose true intentions are unknown.
Book 3
Does the secret of Mars lurk beneath the surface of its south pole? A lone astronaut searches for clues about the earlier inhabitants of the Red Planet. Meanwhile, Rick Summers, having assumed the office of Mars City's Administrator by deceit and manipulation, tries to unify the people on Mars with the weapons under his control. Then, Summers stumbles upon so powerful an evil that even he has no means to overcome it.

Story
During the day, he’s a South Chicago high school janitor, slopping a mop around from nine o’clock to three o’clock, five days a week. At night, hiding out in a boarded-up factory, he attends to his damaged interstellar spacecraft, making repairs and counting the days until he can return to his homeworld of Calunoth. All he needs to do is mind his own business and avoid any messy human dramas for just a few more weeks. But it is on one of those quiet nights when he hears them outside: the MP140s. Named for a police radio code for murder, they're among the most ruthless killers.

Joe Colsco boarded a flight from San Francisco to Chicago to attend a national chemistry meeting. He would never set foot on Earth again. On planet Anyar, Joe is found unconscious on a beach of a large island inhabited by humans where the level of technology is similar to Earth circa 1700. He awakes amid strangers speaking an unintelligible language and struggles to accept losing his previous life and finding a place in a society with different customs, needing a way to support himself and not knowing a single soul.

Story
Earth is no longer the center of the universe. After the invention of the faster-than-light jump drive, humanity is rapidly establishing new colonies. But the vast distances of space mean that the old order of protection and interstellar law offered by Earth has ceased to exist. When a nearby world attacks, the new colony of Glenlyon turns to Robert Geary, a young former junior fleet officer, and Mele Darcy, a onetime enlisted marine.

Story
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....

My name is Alphonse Malloy, and I see everything. From a simple glance, I know your hobbies, what you ate for breakfast, how well you slept, and whether or not your wife is secretly seeing the high school biology teacher when you're not around. I can't explain how or why I get these feelings, only that I know they're true. All the little secrets you're too afraid to tell. Sometimes, that means helping people. Other times, it means staring down the barrel of a loaded gun. I wish I could tell you I was using this ability for good.

Story
No one has ever ventured deeper into space than the four astronauts of Shepherd-1. The aim of their mission is to witness the creation of the cosmos. Using the sun as a lens, they are to align a flock of probes in such a way that the moment of the Big Bang becomes visible. For astronomer Christine, this is a dream come true. So she is bitterly disappointed when the first images are obscured by a kind of veil that prevents any insight. She works obsessively to find a solution, but when she finally succeeds in lifting the veil, she sees something that would have been better kept hidden...

Story
It is 2056. Mathematics professor Elisabeth Gabai is fascinated by multi-dimensional forms that have no equivalent in reality. Then, her boss sends her to the site of an artifact that might have come straight from her theories—or from the technology of an advanced civilization. Twenty-eight years earlier, physicist Max Webber is hell-bent on improving Einstein’s theories of relativity. His latest concept seems flawless, except it predicts the end of humanity. The extinction of Earth can only be prevented if Max can locate a multi-dimensional object.

But Daniel's intellectual strength is sorely tested by the bizarre realities he finds in the quantum world. Extra dimensions of space trap the unwary, probability replaces cause and effect, and time isn't what anyone imagined. Worth a listen.
The first book got me hooked. Great pace and a very interesting story. The second book was just dragging along with a bunch of unneeded dialog. The third book was great but felt rushed at the end.

Lost meets The Martian
Overall a good mars series. The various competing factions make an interesting dynamic. No surprise someone tries to position themselves as the defacto king of Mars.

IT WAS JUST OK
It kind of kept my interest, but I was glad when it was over. I wanted to finish it since I spent so much time on it, but it wasn't as good as I had hoped. Great narrator, with the difficult job of speaking with a very strong Eastern European accent for hours and hours. I'm glad many people liked it because the author and narrator did a lot of work. I'm sorry I couldn't give you a five star review.

Great story that i ish didn’t end!
As others have said, books 1 and 3 really shine. The story is suspenseful and exciting and technically interesting. The storyline compressed near the end, and left me feeling like there could and should be more - i wish the series continued for at least one more book!

Well Thought
This is a surprisingly well crafted story. There is no nonsense and all the factual realities of the world, or mars, are sound. the author did a good job creating the setup and narrative of the story with it's characters.
I kept waiting to get disappointed with some massive nonsense, but the author kept it steady all the way through with an interesting plot twist to the foreshadowing.
Story revolves around the first permanent settlement of Mars in a few decades with technology that seems sufficient for the task, but is not unnecessarily specific and descriptive, which will make this story endure no matter what happens in the near future technology wise. the plot does not rely on tech gizmos to move the plot along at all, and actually is just about people interactions, and the related drama that comes from that, with some good storytelling.
This by no means is an amazing unforgettable story but is actually better than most. I recommend it if you enjoy frontiers or mars related stories in this setting.
Finally, the narrator did a very good job keeping the voices different so I was never confused about who was talking, and the cadence and voice was nice to listen to.
