About this listen

What is a Lemon Mom? She’s a mom who lacks the ability to love and nurture her children, accept them, and help them feel protected, safe, secure, and loved. She parents mostly by shaming, blaming, humiliating, and belittling. Her children grow up to feel “not good enough”, unloved, misunderstood, unimportant, and like they don’t matter.

If this sounds like you and your mother, you are not alone. You can change these dynamics. Author Diane Metcalf, daughter and narcissism abuse survivor, will show you how.

Lemon Moms: A Guide to Understand and Survive Maternal Narcissism walks you through the chaos and confusion of maternal narcissism: what it is, what it does, and how to recover from its devastating effects. With laid-back narrative, personal examples, and action-oriented steps, you’ll learn how to decode the crazy-making behavior, heal the damage, and move forward to live your best life possible.

This is the book you need if you think your mom could be on the narcissism spectrum. Whether she is or isn’t, you don’t need a diagnosis to determine that your relationship with her is unhealthy. If you like detailed information, personal examples, and a touch of humor, you’ll love the authenticity and conversational style.

Learn how to:

  • Remove the drama from your interactions
  • Set personal boundaries
  • Identify and shut down manipulative attempts
  • Identify gaslighting
  • Take control of your personal power

Use the end-of-chapter "Action Steps" to journal, gain insight, and begin healing, or use the Lemon Moms Companion Workbook, with expanded questions.

Conversational tone…humor…compassion...current, detailed information…insight. This book has it all!

What’s stopping you from beginning your healing journey? Take back your life today!

Metcalf's break down of the elements of a narcissist is spot on. If you find yourself drained after spending time with your mother, family members or "friends," read this book.

Diane has a hard story for sure, but for me the lines blurred too much between what I understand as narcissistic and what is cruel behavior. In today's world, I have no doubt Diane would be removed from her mother's care because of the abuse she dished out to Diane. The level of abuse made it hard for me to clearly understand narcissism.

Diane's mom was cruel, not just narcissistic.
