About this listen
Learn to connect, create rapport, develop trust, and build deep relationships.
In this day and age, the art of deep listening is a superpower. If you can make someone feel heard and important, you are on the highway to their heart. And it’s not as difficult or complex as you think.
How to go from stranger to cherished friend in record time.
How to Listen with Intention is ultimately an audiobook about relationships. A relationship must be give-and-take - are you taking more than you are giving? Are you making people feel comfortable opening up to you? Are you listening well, or unwittingly being a conversational/relationship narcissist?
It’s time to ask these difficult questions and learn the skills to not only help people in times of need, but create new friendships with just about anyone - after all, who doesn’t like to be heard?
Increase your emotional intelligence and people analyzing skills.
Patrick King is an internationally best-selling author and social skills coach. His writing draws a variety of sources, from scientific research, academic experience, coaching, and real-life experience.
Understand people two levels beneath their actual words.
- The most damaging mindsets for listening.
- How we are all biologically programmed to be terrible listeners, and we have no idea about it.
- The one person you should emulate for better listening.
- How listening styles, frames, and levels can help you - and how you are not even close to what you think you are.
- The concept of active, reflective listening, and why it’s so tough.
- Reading people, emotional intelligence, and empathy.
Become the most trusted ally and source of comfort and understanding.
Ease people’s burdens, and they will help you with yours. If you want to improve the quality of your relationships, understand conflict resolution, hear people’s deepest desires, and jump into people’s inner circles, this is the audiobook for you. You are about to learn the most valuable interpresonal skill of all, even more important than witty banter and charisma.
Speak up, be heard, and get ready to listen. Buy this audiobook now and start your journey.

The Art of Self-Awareness takes you on a journey - not to an exotic destination, but inwards. It’s perilous, scary, and uncomfortable, but the end rewards will be fantastic. Self-awareness is not simply knowing your name; it’s knowing what makes you happy, what makes you sad, and the underlying beliefs and values that create those emotions. The toughest skill of all: metacognition, which is thinking about your thinking. To get to Point B, you must know what Point A is. Expressing what you want isn’t selfish, it’s prioritizing yourself. The need to please is powerful, but it causes anxiety, stress, and resentment. Time to change your patterns. Stand Up for Yourself is direct and no-nonsense. That’s because the way you prioritize others and let them stomp all over your boundaries isn’t working, so you need a change. This book teaches you how to reverse these mini-decisions, and internalize the belief that you are worth it, you are valuable, and you deserve it. Because you are, and you do.

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of an argument with someone who just isn’t getting it? Most of us miss out on the visual emotive cues we see during direct interpersonal communication. Without these important context clues, we struggle to grasp the intent of the messenger and often the real meaning of the message. To make matters worse, our dependence on instant communication, like text messaging and email, has resulted in forgetting how to talk to one another in person.

Story
At work, we’re taught to lead the conversation. On social media, we shape our personal narratives. At parties, we talk over one another. So do our politicians. We’re not listening. And no one is listening to us. Despite living in a world where technology allows constant digital communication and opportunities to connect, it seems no one is really listening or even knows how. And it’s making us lonelier, more isolated, and less tolerant than ever before. A listener by trade, New York Times contributor Kate Murphy wanted to know how we got here.

Story
Have you ever found yourself in the middle of an argument with someone who just isn’t getting it? Most of us miss out on the visual emotive cues we see during direct interpersonal communication. Without these important context clues, we struggle to grasp the intent of the messenger and often the real meaning of the message. To make matters worse, our dependence on instant communication, like text messaging and email, has resulted in forgetting how to talk to one another in person.

What drives a person who's optimizing every single aspect of her life, and what causes another person to maintain the status quo? I found this topic so fascinating, I decided to find out the answer for myself and write a book about it.

Good Basics
Started a bit slowly for me, but it picked up pretty quickly, and by the end I didn't regret the listen. Very good foundational techniques and advice. I think many of us who struggle with anxiety around socializing and communicatttrd might benefit from this short and simple, yet faintly substantive book, in my humble opinion.

Great Learning Tool in the Kit of Comminication.
I'm in the midst of a few pivotal life shifts and I felt it deeply necessary to figure out where I've been going...well not wrong, but certainly not being my best self when engaging with others. Communication has always been a stumbling block for me due to various reasons (unaddressed traumas etc). I now realize that listening has also been an issue in some areas as I'm a 'heart' listener.
This book is a 'simple listen' which is something I certainly needed considering the heaviness going on. The examples and 'takeaways' were helpful and easily digestible. I can immediately begin to see where I struggle and begin the process of becoming self-aware of my frames of mind along with others. What listening types I'm engaging with and how to inevitably be more forthright yet more empathetic and willing to grow WITH people (when applicable because I can't make someone listen to me etc..)
If you're desiring more in-depth communication engagements, this is a great start for aligning your own tool kit on the road to healing oneself, and your relationships and perhaps becoming a stronger community.
