About this listen
Unleashing the passion of young people in your church is possible!
Churches are losing both members and vitality as increasing numbers of young people disengage. Based on groundbreaking research with over 250 of the nation's leading congregations, Growing Young provides a strategy any church can use to involve and retain teenagers and young adults. It profiles innovative churches that are engaging 15- to 29-year-olds and as a result are growing - spiritually, emotionally, missionally, and numerically. Packed with both research and practical ideas, Growing Young shows pastors and ministry leaders how to position their churches to engage younger generations in a way that breathes life and energy into the whole church.

Story
What can the call to discipleship, the adherence to the word of Jesus, mean today to the businessman, the soldier, the laborer, or the aristocrat? What did Jesus mean to say to us? What is his will for us today? Drawing on the Sermon on the Mount, Dietrich Bonhoeffer answers these timeless questions by providing a seminal reading of the dichotomy between "cheap grace" and "costly grace."

Story
Is it possible to disagree politically and love unconditionally? The reaction of evangelicals to political and cultural shifts in recent years revealed what they value most. Lurking beneath our Bible-laced rhetoric, faith claims, books, and sermons is a relentless drive to WIN! But the church is not here to win. By every human measure, our Savior lost. On purpose. With a purpose. And we are his body. We are not in it to win anything. We are in it for something else entirely. That something else is what this book is about.

Story
One of the church's primary responsibilities is to foster genuine spiritual growth in people's lives. Today's pastors bring tremendous effort and passion to this task, but they are often disappointed by people who sit in the pews for years, knowing about Jesus but never really knowing him. In 2004, Willow Creek Community Church in suburban Chicago undertook a three-year study to measure spiritual growth called the REVEAL Spiritual Life Survey. Over the next six years, additional data was collected from over a quarter million people in well over a thousand churches of every size....

We live in an upside-down culture. We wink at our vices as coping strategies while restricting our virtues to our online personas, where they won't interfere with our real lives. And we wonder why we feel empty, exhausted, and directionless. But why do we do things that we know are harmful for us? Jonathan "JP" Pokluda wants you to know there's a better, more fulfilling way to live, and it doesn't involve looking inside yourself for the answers—because that's not where you'll find them.

A must read for churches focused on young adults!
The book is filled with insightful info on how to engage and foster a church culture that can help youth and young adults thrive in the modern day church.
It was indepth and we'll put together.
It is a bit dry and not an exciting book but definitely a blessing to have as a resource.
Thank you for your heart and ministry to reach, engage and inspire the next generation for Jesus

Good book for leaders in the Church
Difficult book to follow audibly at times because it is where I would normally take notes or highlight. Lots of rewinding. But the core of the book is excellent. Would love to hear an update on the churches involved. Maybe another study, so much has changed since the study especially with CoVid.
Blessings.

Great book, some of the worst voice acting/reading
The book is great. I highly recommend it for any Church that is concerned about reaching and keeping young people.
However, the audio is terrible. It's read without feeling, with strange pauses. It reads the sidebars without finishing the paragraphs. All in all, it's a mess.
