Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

alaxy. Humanity was slowly making their way out from Earth to the planets and asteroids of the Solar System, exploring and mining and founding colonies. The mining ship El Cavador is far out from Earth, in the deeps of the Kuiper Belt, beyond Pluto. Other mining ships, and the families that live on them, are few and far between this far out. So when El Cavador's telescopes pick up a fast-moving object coming in-system, it's hard to know what to make of it. It's massive and moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light.

At CERN, he analyses data generated by the Large Hadron Collider, the world's biggest and most powerful particle accelerator. Now, Ty believes he's found a pattern in its output. Forgotten, except as a bad example...until the Tahni prove him right by declaring war on the human commonwealth.

Solid 3.5
Tries to be serious and deal with heavy societal issues and falls short but still engaging.

pretty good story with a few problems
so the story is pretty good, incorporating the Greys is something I liked. the Neanderthal/ trogs was just kinda thrown at the reader with no support in the way of earth's and humanity's past. also some basic science facts were just wrong. radioactive fallout on the moon wouldn't actually be a thing seeing as the moon has been irradiated by the giant unshielded fusion reactor we call the sun in addition to cosmic rays. both sources bathe the moon in a constant stream of ionizing radiation. and how does a space fairing civilization or in this case 2 of them have invent fusion reactors without fission or developing nuclear and thermonuclear weapons. I know science fiction has to incorporate fictional bits of science but if you're using real science a little homework goes a long way, otherwise that suspension of disbelief gets a little fubar

Amazing series!
This series was amazing! The characters have such a depth to them and emotions are conveyed so well. I am upset the series is over. Kane and Bryce are my favorites, Phil is a great contrast to both! Absolutely amazing!

Great story
This is a great story line from start to finish!!!
Only draw back is during the “heat of battle”, there is a lot of teenage girl type bickering among the crew...
