Survival is all that matters in here.
Still, it gets tricky when evil lurks around every corner, wanting to play.
To the arsonist, everything is a game.
Warren Xavier is Alabaster Pen’s resident manipulative liar. The former pretty boy prince of Manhattan’s elite is now locked away with the rest of us. Nothing but time to sit and stew, scheme and obsess. And I’m the unlucky soul he’s made the object of his cunning affections.
On the outside, I would never entertain the kinds of things Ren wants from me. Unfortunately, being trapped for so long in such a hellish place can wear down even the strongest of minds.
I’d be a fool to fall into his mess of lustful deviance again. After all, I’ve been burned before.
But that silver tongue is wrapped right around my heart. The next time his flames engulf me, I might let them.
Prison life can be fun when you hold the handcuff keys in your sullied hands.
My skills give me power over guards, prisoners, and pretty much everyone. I control these men without lifting a finger. Maybe bending at the waist. But not him. Not the one I truly want.
Lex “Luthor” Deon is too perfect to be rotting in this dungeon. He’s a hacker, a genius; a shimmering diamond lodged in a dreary black pit of decay. Sweet, loyal, and inexperienced.
In short, he’s way too good for me.
But I’m too stubborn and volatile to ever let him go.
I won’t allow fragments of the past ruin us. When it all comes crumbling down, Lex will have to make a choice… Risk everything, or play it safe.
Whether he likes it or not, he wants to believe me…But sometimes even I can’t tell when I’m lying.
Fragments is a dark MM romance set in the world of Alabaster Penitentiary. While it follows a new couple with their own HEA, it is recommended to listen to the rest of the series first to avoid spoilers and get the full effect of the Isle. Lex and Ren were like toxic little magnets. No matter how much Lex wanted to hate Ren, he never could. No matter how much Ren obsessed over Lex, he was always just out of reach. Ren was the homie hopper of Alabaster and just amused me so much. He’s blunt, I’ll mannered, lies like hell, and is unapologetically him, a total fckboy. I loved it. Lex was more reserved. A good boy, always seeking a friend and companionship. Such a sweetheart. His golden retriever energy had me instantly in love with him.
When they finally decided to give it their all, it was 𝒻𝒾𝓇ℯ𝓌ℴ𝓇𝓀𝓈! I couldn’t get enough of this couple. They were so filthy and sweet together. I can’t wait to see what the next installment brings us because in true Nyla fashion, she always drops something crazy on us right at the end.
Devon Ryder and Harley Chase did a good job on the dual narration. Although, at times it was hard to tell the voices apart. But they definitely delivered on all the emotion and alllll the spice in the book.

I hate waiting for last two books!

Like the previous books, this one covers the same general timeline but gives us Ren and Lex’s perspectives and their five-year dynamic inside Alabaster really comes through. I loved Lex. He’s brilliant, loyal, and honestly way too good for the hellhole he’s stuck in. Ren... is complicated. He’s manipulative, dangerous, and often uses sex to push boundaries, and even though I’m not his biggest fan, I still found myself rooting for something between them. (And yes, still better than any of the guards…no love lost for Joy, Velle, or Rook.) The cameos at the end of Colson, Cyrus and Tauren were a nice touch.
I’m definitely curious where things will go next. I just hope Lex and Ren don’t get pulled back into that world trying to play heroes. After everything? They deserve some peace. But… knowing Nyla, I’m not holding my breath. 😉

We finally have Ren and Lex’s story. It's definitely full of angst and twists just like the others in the series. They definitely fought hard and earned their HEA. We knew it would be with the glimpses we got in the previous books. Highly recommend the series

Gah I loved Ren and Lex so much. Their push and pull back and forth banter was fun and sexy and devastating all at the same time. I loved that we got to see each of their timelines, even though we jump around a bit in time, we still get to see what happened prior to their getting to Alabaster, it’s a parallel timeline to the previous books so we get to see Dash and his prison break, and the development of Velle, Rook, and Joy’s relationship, and the carver and the psychologist, but we see all of this happening from Ren and Lex’s points of view. Nyla’s writing is just so good that she was able to weave this intricate web with all these characters and timelines and it is just so good.
Devon and Harley did so good. Individually their performances as Ren and Lex respectively were absolutely amazing. I do wish, however, that their voices were a little more different. It was hard to keep track of whose point of view I was listening to because the narrators sounded so similarly.
