As the creator of Forrest Yoga, Ana T. Forrest has been transforming people's lives throughout the world for more than 35 years. Her unique blend of physical practice, Eastern wisdom, and profound Native American ceremony takes her teachings literally off the mat and into daily life - to heal everything from addictive behaviors and eating disorders to chronic pain and injury. - Learn to stalk fear and break free from it instead of running from it.
- Be attentive to your body, discovering its own inherent healing properties.
- Speak and act from a place of honesty and compassion.
- Cultivate an open heart that is feeling, responsive, and reflexive and able to embrace change.
- Harness your intuition and the courage to live in alignment with your Spirit.

Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

The body is magnificent but it doesn't come with a lifetime warranty or an operating manual. You're the result of millions of years of evolution, but many of the adaptations that helped your ancestors survive are now working overtime to accelerate the aging process. The assumption here is that we are our genes and therefore trapped by the past. The good news is that your genetic code - the DNA sequence that is the biochemical basis of heredity - can play a minor role in the way you age.

Rockstar Yogi Shares Sacred Teachings
If you could sum up Fierce Medicine in three words, what would they be?
Fierce Medicine is a diamond filled with Brilliant reflections, sacred teachings and unforgettable experiences. Ana T. Forrest, Rockstar yogi, healer, and Medicine Woman, reads her story with Beauty and Eloquence. In her earlier career, she was a world class horse trainer. Her strategic perspective seemed to be a philosophy used in show jumping. When approaching a challenging obstacle, one proceeds in a manner known as "throw your heart over". With this work, she takes that leap and soars amongst supernovas.
What other book might you compare Fierce Medicine to and why?
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson is similar because both Ana and Steve are ahead of their time in their respective fields. They both "think different." Their challenges evolve into opportunities rather than obstacles. They reject what did not work and moved into new, uncharted waters for what did. Basically, they are both pioneers in their fields.
Which scene was your favorite?
There are many scenes that resonate. Ana's time in India, which was a crucial turning point for her personally and professionally, explains the roots of her teaching philosophy.
Her work and relationship with horses was very informative as well. The connected nature of life and love and trust was very well delineated.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There are many poignant moments. How Ana got up each day and continued to learn, grow, and later to teach is inspiring and touching. I salute and admire her work and her lessons.
Any additional comments?
Listening to Ana's reading is a blessing. Breathe deeply as you drink it in. Listen in Beauty to the life and work of a leader and a living legend.

Fantastic and Fierce Book
Would you consider the audio edition of Fierce Medicine to be better than the print version?
For me yes. I travel for work so it was a way for me to listen while I drive and fly. Also easy to go back and listen to favorite chapters. I read the book years ago, still have it and now it has so much more meaning for me. I love my books but find I do better with audible. I can listen on my cell, in my car or on my computer. Love it!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Fierce Medicine?
I grew up in So California and grew up at a stable so there is so much I identified with. Definitely horses were my first and best friends. This time around it really hit me on how there were people in her life that saw value in her and how much she overcame. I mean she has been through so much and got through it. She talked about people who shoot emotional arrows at others. So much truth in what she says. I really liked when the deer came and gave her a name.
What about Ana T. Forrest’s performance did you like?
I liked her honesty and transparency. I liked her truthfulness about famous Guru types. I liked that she teaches and shares what has worked for her. She is very real. She was easy to listen to and kept my attention.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Heartbreaking, Fierce and Awesome...I do hope she makes a movie of this book. Would love to hear more about what she learned on the reservation. Healing modalities.
Any additional comments?
I take her online yoga and ceremony classes. I highly recommend them. She has a way to encourage people to overcome and let them know they can do it! A no BS kind of person. I highly recommend her book on Audible. Really enjoyed it.

Storytelling through yoga poses
I am enchanted by the skill of the storytelling Ana is delivering, so much knowledge and experience. I also aporeciate the usefull tips, like giving specific examples on little steps, the open fact that spiritual way is not just peace, love and shining dinamonds unicorns as some sell it nowdays. It is tough work on yourself but if you are willing to do it than your seed will flourosh.

Powerful
What about Ana T. Forrest’s performance did you like?
Some of us are given big burdens to carry when we are children. Ana forged a path through healing, honesty, power, and success, and shared her map with us. This book moved me to tears (well sobs actually) and I'm happy I read it. I love listening to her read her autobiography because words are flat on a page and her true ferocity and vivaciousness comes through her voice. She is animated and honest in her tone and I found listening to her speak her truth very healing. I plan to study with Ana as soon as she comes back to Seattle. Keep on mending the hoop of the people Ana. We need you.
What did you learn from Fierce Medicine that you would use in your daily life?
Fierce Medicine is truly a book for people that feel deep pain, or have felt deep pain in their lives and want to recover from it. There are very useful tools given, such as the death meditation, and how to use your physical yoga practice to heal emotional wounding. I have felt alone with my childhood pain because most people I know haven't been through major childhood trauma. Listening to Ana read her story, which is more horrific than mine, has been the only thing that has opened the black box recorder portion of my own memory and made me really want to review it. Repressing the story of what happened to me has made me numb-out and flip-out at weird times in my life. I've never heard this behavior described in the first person before by an author or anyone else, and it was powerful for me to hear how she moves through it. If you feel alone and burdened by your hidden pain, listen to this incredible book because it will help you to feel less alone and inspire you to take the steps to heal yourself.
Any additional comments?
This book is a pure gift. I have so much gratitude for Ana.
