About this listen
"Got a gun?"
With those words, David Allen Crockett, a retired police officer who simply wanted to be left alone, finds his seclusion shattered by his friend, therapist Ruby LaCost. At Ruby's request, Crockett agrees to teach one of her clients, Rachael Moore, how to defend herself with a handgun.
During the course of those lessons, Crockett and Rachael begin an intimate relationship. When Rachael is found dead from an apparent suicide, Crockett is devastated and tries to slink back into his self-imposed seclusion. But things get complicated when Crockett is contacted by Rachael's aunt, who believes the suicide was staged and claims she has the name of the murderer. Together, Crockett and Ruby begin an investigation that leads them into a world of treachery, deceit, and death.

Cody Hoyt, while a brilliant cop, is an alcoholic struggling with two months of sobriety when his mentor and AA sponsor Hank Winters is found burned to death in a remote mountain cabin. At first it looks like the suicide of a man who's fallen off the wagon, but Cody knows Hank better than that. Sober for fourteen years, Hank took pride in his hard-won sobriety and never hesitated to drop whatever he was doing to talk Cody off a ledge. When Cody takes a closer look at the scene of his friend's death, it becomes apparent that foul play is at hand.

Incredible Book
David R. Lewis does an incredible job introducing readers into one of the best series I've read in a very long time. Fear of Father: Call Me Crockett is a signature novel. I laughed, I hurt, I felt anger, I often times wanted to cry, and I cheered on the good guys in this book that enveloped all of my feelings and utilized each one at just the right moment as the novel progressed. The author IS one of the best in the business.

Much better than what I thought
As a fan of Lewis's books, I really didn't know how this might be. But his writing and reading of the story were both great. I loved all the Trail series, but .this one came up to the same standards I thought it would be.

Very good books series. I like books by Robert B P
What made the experience of listening to Fear of the Father: Call Me Crockett the most enjoyable?
I like books by Robert B Parker, Tom Clancy, and many more. But I have found David R Lewis and I am hooked. I like the audible books and David narrates his own books. He gives the characters in the books more personality than any other books I have bought on audible. Try some for yourself and you will love it too. His voices for the characters good. Thank you David for the great books you have given us.

Improbable
A story that every middle school boy would love. A lot of sexual innuendo, the hero who can turn a lesbian straight and just happens to have a billionaire friend who loves doling out cash.
Added bonus is occasional tutorials that any adult needs not hear.
I did enjoy the first hour or so! :)
I do love this author tho, he would do better sticking to his cowboy stories....

Mystery or Porn?
Had a hard time finding the story for having to slog through all the filthy language and verbal pornographic pictures. Could have been a really good story. Lewis should stick to westerns and even they could stand some sanitizing.
