About this listen

Dylan knew that the boiler was about to blow apart, and if he didn’t act fast, he and the others in the pump room at the number three mine would all die.

In his haste to escape a scalding death, the engine operator panicked and fell. Dylan lifted his heavy shovel as high as his 12-year-old arms could manage and swung at the thundering machine. It could've killed him, but he had to try. As the shovel’s steel head slammed into the machine, it set in motion a series of events that would shape his entire life.

I'm about 30 to 40 minutes into the fourth volume of this series, and thus far as a "series whole" C. J. Petit's writings reminds an awful lot of two other writers.

Earl (The Waltons) Hammer Jr. and Michael (Little House & Highway) Landon. All three of these gentlemen seemed to have the pulse of great wholesome classic American entertainment.

Storyline agreed with life and times. Eager to follow in Dylan’s Memories. Great window to early American history and challenges.

I don’t typically do reviews, but I enjoyed this book so very much, I had to share! This isn’t a book I would have picked just based on the synopsis, but I enjoy Jim Meskimen so much that I decided to give it a shot. I’m so glad I did!

This is a great story with well-developed characters and the perfect amount of action and clean romance! The story does have some content that may be difficult for some readers - namely SA.

The real star of this story is Jim Meskimen. He is hands-down my favorite narrator. His voice is like snuggling under a warm blanket with a cup of hot cocoa on a cold day. His voice acting is great with plenty of range for multiple characters.

If you’re looking for a story that is easy to listen to, with just enough adventure and excitement, give this book a listen!

Great story performed by the BEST narrator!

Jim Meskimen narration is great. I was drawn into Dylan’s world from the first minute. Kept me listening to see what would happen next. It’s not the usual murder mystery genre I listen to but it is a very good story.

Great story !

I enjoyed this book from the very beginning! The perfect match of action and romance. Can’t wait to start the next one!

Dylan’s Journey Review

Are there guns in the story? Yep! Shooting? Yep! Native Americans? Yep! Is it primarily set in the Midwest? Yep!

Sounds like a western themed novel, doesn’t it? Except it’s not. Not like you’re used to, anyway.

Even if westerns are not your preferred genre, just give this one a listen. It’s very well written and the characters are so well developed you will love some and (really) hate some.

It’s a great story with a good narrator and I’m off to download and start book 2!

It’s a good one. You should definitely read it!
