Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Story
The Republic of San Magnolia has long been under attack from the neighboring Giadian Empire's army of unmanned drones known as the Legion. After years of painstaking research, the Republic finally developed autonomous drones of their own, turning the one-sided struggle into a war without casualties-or at least, that's what the government claims. In truth, there is no such thing as a bloodless war. Beyond the fortified walls protecting the eighty-five Republic territories lies the "nonexistent" Eighty-Sixth Sector.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Grunts in the corporate corps get busted down into light to travel to and from interplanetary battlefronts. Everyone is changed by what the corps must do in order to break them down into light. Those who survive learn to stick to the mission brief - no matter what actually happens during combat. Welcome to the Five Isles, where war has come in the name of the invading army of Sor Sevier, a merciless host driven by the prophetic fervor of the Angel Prince, Aeros, toward the last unconquered kingdom of Gul Kana. Yet Gault, one of the elite Knights Archaic of Sor Sevier, is growing disillusioned by the crusade he is at the vanguard of just as it embarks on his Lord Aeros' greatest triumph. Took two reads to really grasp this
If you could sum up Edge of Tomorrow (Movie Tie-in Edition) in three words, what would they be?
Unique, Ambiguous, Clever
What other book might you compare Edge of Tomorrow (Movie Tie-in Edition) to and why?
What's great about Edge of Tomorrow is that it's fairly unique to the genre. While alien invaders have been done many times, the melding of the Groundhog Day scenario is clever. I'm not sure there is a clean comparison here.
Have you listened to any of Mike Martindale’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I am not sure. The reading is quite good though and I've no complaints about the narrator.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The filmmakers did a good job on that one. No need for me to rehash here.
Any additional comments?
This is an excellent book. The story moves at a great pace for the topic and it tackles the time travel exposition in a clever manner. The ending is a bit confusing, but that adds a lot to the book.

Loved the movie, not so sure about the book
Any additional comments?
I'm not sure where the folks that put the movie got their story from, but it was not from this book. I got the book to maybe help clarify some of the mysteries left after watching the movie. The book was fine, but did nothing to help understand the movie...

Much better than the movie, and the movie was terr
The book opens with the internal dialogue of "The Angel of Verdun" rather than the weaselly Public Information Officer that you may have been familiar with, from the movie. Suddenly, you realize you're listening to a woman's view, and a badass, at that. From that point on, imagine what a difference that makes, in your perspective. Highly recommended.

Military Sci Fi Grind at it's finest
Would you listen to Edge of Tomorrow (Movie Tie-in Edition) again? Why?
I love military Sci Fi Fiction. This captured the horrors of war while relating it to this generations view of war as a video game. Excellent satire as always from one of my favorite Genres.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Rita, The Full Metal Bitch. It was a short story but her character was Cold as ice and surprisingly vulnerable. Well Realized Bad Ass!
What does Mike Martindale bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His delivery is fantastic. I just thought Keiji should have probably sounded more japanese. It's a silly Knit PIck I know.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It had a bit of dark humor and like most war fiction had some very sad imagery.
Any additional comments?
This was my first Audible DL and I just want to say I'm very happy with Audible.com bringing me listening that I can't get anywhere else.

Refreshingly not Hollywood. I wish I understood why they were radio transmitters to the enemy and they needed to kill one another.

Futuristic Action with an interesting plot twist
If you could sum up Edge of Tomorrow (Movie Tie-in Edition) in three words, what would they be?
time loop, battle, hero
What was one of the most memorable moments of Edge of Tomorrow (Movie Tie-in Edition)?
[SPOILER] When Keiji goes back to the skylounge apartment and finally understands Rita's motives/feelings.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
yes
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
sure, since it's not that long. Plus the plot is interesting and never gets boring.
