About this listen

Val and Buddy were just your average couple who had been looking forward to their trip out west for six months. Ever since Buddy had seen that magazine advertisement for the Annual Copper Festival in the back of True West Magazine, they have been making their plans to attend the event. Only taking time away for a vacation about every five years, Buddy was looking forward to finally getting a week away to be a real cowboy, while Val was happy to have a new sewing project. She spent the last six months researching and sewing their 1880’s style duds they would wear for the weekend to make sure they got the full event experience. Almost always the blue-ribbon winner at church, Val had her heart set on winning that 1880’s costume contest so she could tell all the ladies about it at the next month’s luncheon. However, after an unexpected dust storm just inside the Arizona border forces them off the road just after they took Exit 188 to Copper, Arizona, they ended up having a vacation that no amount of planning could have prepared them for.

Author Sherry Rudd takes us on her first Fictional ride back into time. Switching gears from her two previous memoirs, Rudd takes readers back to the year 1888 for a glimpse of life back in the old west. As a current and twelve-year resident of Tombstone, she has creatively brought the small town feel of Copper, Arizona to life for the first in her series of old west time travel stories.

A Fun Escape Into The Old West!

This was a terrific story that had a lot of funny and witty banter in it. Great characters throughout, and Bud & Val have a relationship that is worthy of aspiring too. They are considerate to each other, a bit spontaneous & not boring, and the teenage spark is still alive, lol. They took their situation in stride & blended right in with the old time west. This was written with great detail that pulled me right in.
I dont care for the emotionless AI narration and I wasnt a huge fan of the (non)ending, but that likely just me!
